Hi I'm Jake

I am a police officer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a police officer and am finishing up my bachelor's degree in criminal justice. I have a fabulous Russian wife and a wonderful 2 year-old son. I love to read, hike, exercise, listen to and play music, and play games and have fun with my family. Life is good.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church, but it wasn't until I was about 11 when I realized that I had been believing based on the beliefs of my parents, and that I needed to find out for myself whether the church was true or not. It was at that time I started seriously reading the Book of Mormon, constantly asking myself if what I was reading could be true or not. When I came to the end of the book, I took the challenge given by the prophet Moroni to ask God to know if what I had read was the word of God. The answer I received was that I already knew the answer. I had received it all throughout my reading of the Book of Mormon, when the spirit would give me the feelings that what I was reading is true. Ever since then I have had a firm testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and the church as a whole. I have gained a personal relationship with my Heavenly Father and my Savior, that I continue to build. With the guidance I receive from the Holy Spirit, I am enjoying life and growing stronger.

How I live my faith

I serve in the church as a youth teacher. I teach children ages 10-12 and am amazed at the strength of the youth today. While many could look at the youth of today and think that society is getting worse and worse, within the church I see the youth getting stronger and stronger, willing to stand up for what is right. I also strive to be a Christlike example every day, at my job, at school, and just with those that are around me. I want people to want to come closer to Christ, because they know me and see the light he gives me in my life.
