Hi I'm Jan Pfeifer

I live in Aspen, Colorado but am from Hamilton, Montana. I work in accounting at Aspen Square. I'm a grandmother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hiking is one of my favorite activities. Skiing is also a fun activity that I enjoy. I play the piano and like to sing. I also love to read. I have three sons, three daughter-in-laws, and 5.5 grandchildren. Playing with my grandchildren is so fun. We enjoy getting together for holidays, especially Christmas. We usually ski together on Christmas, unless it is on a Sunday. My siblings all live in different states but we try to get together once or twice a year. We often call or email each other. Family is so important to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm happiest when I'm living the way I should...keeping the commandments and trying to be Christlike. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (the Mormons) helps me to do these things. I'm reminded every week at church of Christ's atoning sacrifice when I partake of the sacrament. The music I learn to play or sing at church helps reinforce the Christlike attributes I am trying to develop. My friends in the church help me to be a better person. Most important to me is the knowledge that I can be with my family after I die. I know death is not the end and that I'll see my parents and grandparents again someday.

How I live my faith

I play the piano for church every week. Choosing appropriate music for our meetings helps me have a great spirit in my home as I practice hymn arrangements and other beautiful music. I also teach the teenage girls and participate in their activities. These young women hold so much potential...it is an honor to work with them. I also visit four women in their homes every month. I am supposed to help them and teach them but they usually do more for me than I do for them. Just getting to know them better and seeing their responses to adversity and how they deal with all that they have on their plates is a real blessing to me.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Jan Pfeifer
The Book of Mormon is another witness that Jesus Christ really lived, that He was and is God’s Son. It contains the writings of ancient prophets. One of these, Lehi, lived in Jerusalem around 600 B.C. God commanded Lehi to lead a small group of people to the American continent. There they became a great civilization. God continued to call prophets among these people. The Book of Mormon is a collection of the writings of their prophets and record keepers. It is named after Mormon, one of the last of these ancient prophets. These prophets knew about Heavenly Father’s plan for His children and the mission of Jesus Christ. They recorded that Christ appeared, after His Resurrection, to the people in America, taught them His gospel, and formed His Church among them. The book contains the teachings of Jesus Christ, testifying of His Atonement and His love. It supports and verifies the Bible. The Book of Mormon concludes with a great promise that those who read it and sincerely pray about it can know by the Holy Ghost that it is true (Moroni 10:4). Show more Show less
