Hi I'm Gabe

I'm a father of four, a husband, a Scoutmaster, a I.T. support manager, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Colorado, then served a mission in Japan. I moved to the midwest where I got an undergrad degree in Telecommunications and Japanese, then I got a Masters in Information and Communication Sciences. I'm happily married to the best wife in the world with four of the best kids ever who range in age from 13 to 2. I have served many years as a Scoutmaster (and even a Cubmaster and Webelos Den Leader). I am very active in my children's lives from attending the Parent Faculty Organization meetings and back to school nights, to attending Cross Country and Ballet events. I help with their homework, teach them piano and trumpet, and try to teach them the values that have been instilled in me. I love my family and would do anything for them. I worked for a large insurance company for 11 years before being laid off in 2009 as part of the economic slowdown. I was unemployed for a few months before accepting a contract position in a city a little over an hour away from where I live. I did that for a while then got a more permanent position in the city in which I live, and am currently employed there. I don't earn as much as I used to, but we have learned to live with what we have. Also, I have started a second job teaching I.T. related subjects online. Between my two jobs, working with the Scouts, and supporting my family, I don't have a lot of free time. However, I do enjoy creating Web sites and watching family oriented movies.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church which means my parents were members and took me to church every Sunday and taught me the Gospel at home. I continue that path with my own children. I know the Book of Mormon is true and have always felt confirmaton of its truthfulness from God's Holy Spirit. Whenever there are times in my life when I feel overwhelmed or stressed or even scared, I can read the Book of Mormon and immediately feel the peace that I know exists in Heaven. I follow the guidance and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and have never regretted it. The church has helped me grow so much, and I see a clear path before me of which direction I need to continue to grow and progress. I feel so blessed that the church has always been a part of my life, to help me not make any serious mistakes. I choose to continue to follow the Savior's Gospel because it makes me happy, and I am truly happy.

How I live my faith

I am the Scoutmaster for my ward/congregation. I used to be the Cubmaster for many of the boys that I now serve as the Scoutmaster, so it is fun to watch them grow and mature into adulthood. My oldest son has also been a part of this group, so I consider it a blessing that I could serve him in the same capacity, and I hope to be just as active in Scouting with my other sons. The Scouting program is very compatible with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and allows us to share His Gospel with the youth. We teach them to be giving, kind, trustworthy, helpful, etc. We take the boys on outings such as campouts to help them improve their character and learn to be self-reliant and helpful to their fellow scouts. It is these wholesome activities that help the young men grow into responsible citizens of our community and the kingdom of God.
