Hi I'm Carrie

I've been Mormon my whole life and I love it. I am currently preparing to serve a full-time LDS mission.

About Me

I'm a member of a large family, and my brother is one of my best friends. (Strange, I know.) I was born and raised in the southern United States and I have always been very open about my religion. I love to crochet, read, and write, but most of all I am highly involved in music, from playing the clarinet and piano to singing, and occasionally dancing. I recently completed my first year at college, where I am applying to the Music Education program as a clarinetist.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all my life. I was baptized shortly after my eighth birthday and confirmed the same day. I can't say that I ever had some incredible epiphany where angels sang and I knew without a doubt that the Gospel was true, but little by little, as I have sought that knowledge, I have received it. Now, I have the opportunity to share my testimony with the people of Spain on a full-time LDS mission.

How I live my faith

I have always tried to share my faith by living it. I was called as a ward missionary while still in middle school, and as ward chorister in high school. I have always been very open about my religion, and willing to share with anyone who wants to know more. The main way that I like to share, unsurprisingly, is through music, whether by sharing the gospel with my friends in choir or by writing music that expresses my testimony.

What is the Law of Chastity?

Carrie
The best and simplest explanation of the Law of Chastity that I have ever read can be found in the booklet entitled "For the Strength of Youth". It reads, "The Lord’s standard regarding sexual purity is clear and unchanging. Do not have any sexual relations before marriage, and be completely faithful to your spouse after marriage." It has always been important for me to realize that this is not the church's standard. This is the Lord's commandment. The biggest danger in the way that the Law of Chastity is often taught is that, as a young woman, I often got the impression that all sexual relations are evil. However, this is not the case. In truth, sexual intimacy is beautiful - a means by which to be co-creators with God himself. However, because of its sacred nature, it is meant to be used only when sanctioned by Him, "between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife." Show more Show less
