Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a passionate runner. I strive to run every morning around the same time. Running is not only good for my body, it also invigorates my mind. I think sharper, I am more patient, and have more motivation throughout the day. Over the years, rain or snow, heat or humidity, I am out there. Throughout two pregnancies and now balancing the demands of parenthood, I am still out there running. Some days I am faster than others, and certain phases of life make it more difficult than other times to commit. Yet, I commit, every day.

Why I am a Mormon

The most important priority for my life is to try to emulate Jesus Christ. Through my thoughts, words, and actions, I want to represent His name and stand for the truth of His doctrine. Being a member of this church helps guide me on my quest to be more like Christ. Every Sunday as I go to church, I am able to recommit my determination to follow Him in everything I do. The gospel of Jesus Christ helps me find answers to numerous questions in my life such as: my marriage, parenthood, balancing the demands of life, and how to use my talents. I will continue to practice my faith as a member of this church because it truly brings joy. Jesus Christ has done so much for me, and I want to show my gratitude and commitment by following his teachings in every way I can.

How I live my faith

A sure way I can live and increase my faith is to act. While learning how to be like Christ is helpful, the only way we can truly come to know Him is to "do," not just to "know." For example, Christ's ministry focused so much on service. In my life I too try to help other people whenever I can. In our church we have a program for the women which is heavily focused on service. I contact and visit three different women every month to see what their needs are and how I can help them in their lives. I also teach children in our church music every Sunday. I am able to share my love for music while helping children learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. The most important way I live my faith is within my own family. With my husband, I am able to teach my children about patience, love, and service. This will help them on their journey to become more like Jesus Christ and to then share this joy with others.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We do not. We worship God and Jesus Christ. We believe that God still speaks to His children today. Through a prophet, we are able to receive knowledge on the things God wants us to hear. Joseph Smith was the first prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We acknowledge and respect his determination to stand as a witness of Jesus Christ in a modern time.
