Hi I'm Martamaria

I speak Spanish, French and English. I'm a designer, but love teaching. I love music and read. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been a Mormon all my life. I'm a family person, we love to spend a lot of time together. I spoil my nephews and nieces. Well, I studied in a French school in Guatemala since I was 3, and got my High School there, too, at the age of 17. I start learning English at the age of 12. I had the opportunity to take one year of Latin in Middle School, and one of German in High School, but I don't really remember. I went to college and studied Industrial Design, and worked as an furniture designer for about 3 years. During college I worked as a teacher (French, ICT, Art and ESL), and missed it a lot during my time as a designer, that I'm back teaching ESL and Spanish. I love learning about new cultures. I love to read. Beside the scriptures, I love Harry Potter series, Twilight saga, The Hunger Games, and many other books in French. I love music, specially if I can sing. I would love to sing for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents met the church before they got married. I'm the fourth of four kids. We were all raised in the church. Since I was a little girl I was happy in the church. I just can't imagine a different life, one away from church. When I was a teenage girl, I was around 16, I felt the need to know by myself if this was the right path. I felt that I needed to see if my testimony was really mine or if I was just following my parents teachings. I read the Book of Mormon, carefully, and got on my knees and prayed. I recieved and answer. I know that this is the truth. That my Heavenly Father and Jesus-Christ loved me and know me. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that Thomas S. Monson is the prophet for us today. I know that the Book of Mormon is a book that contains the truth of the gospel and, togheter with the Bible, teaches us about Jesus-Christ life. He came to the earth to save me. And I'm truly grateful for that. I know where I belong, and that makes me happy.

How I live my faith

I've known church all my life. I remember being an active member, going to church activities and being there every Sunday. Since I turn 18, I've been blessed by serving in the church in many ways. For 7 years, I worked with youth, specially young women. I had the opportunity to teach them on Sundays and to plan activities such as camps, choirs, and helping them to reach their goals. When I was 25, I was called to serve with the little one, the children from 18 months to 11 years old. I loved being with them. We learn from each other every Sunday and in every activity we have. I was called to serve as a missionary and I came in August 2013. Now I am sharing my testimony to all and trying to help them to have an eternal family.
