Hi I'm Tony

I'm a husband, father and grandfather. I am a Hoosier by degree and choice and, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband, father and grandfather. I recently retired as a high school basketball and soccer referee after 16 years of officiating. I work as a supervisor in a return center for a major department store chain. I love to ride my motorcycle and ride our horses with my wife and friends. One of my passions is golf and I carry a 14+ handicap (no holes in one but 8 eagles).

Why I am a Mormon

When I was thirteen years old my father died of cancer. My mother became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I started attending church with her. Though baptized at eight years of age by my grandfather I had never been actively involved with the church. I spent most of my teenage years floating between being active and less-active in the church. At seventeen years of age I spent a summer in Wenatchee, WA and got involved with a great group of young people. Through their influence, the influence of many back home and the promptings of the Holy Ghost I became actively involved with the church. After high school I attended Ricks College (BYU Idaho), served a two-year church mission to Düsseldorf, Germany, came home and married my college sweetheart. We currently have four children and five grandchildren. The gospel of Jesus Christ has been the foundation and anchor for everything I am and hope to become. We have raised our four children with a clear understanding of our faith and the blessings that come from keeping God’s commandments and being obedient to the teachings of Jesus Christ. We have enjoyed the full blessings of membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from fellowship and friendship to service and entering sacred temples. I have been blessed through the spirit of the Holy Ghost to know that there is a God in Heaven who loves and watches over all of His children no matter what their circumstance and that Jesus Christ, His son, is our Savior and Redeemer. My prayers have been answered about the restoration of the priesthood and organization of Christ’s church with prophets and apostles and that the Book of Mormon is a true and second witness that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. With this knowledge and testimony I am able to meet the challenges of life in an ever changing world and find peace in very trying times.

How I live my faith

I believe I live my faith by treating others with kindness and respect. Everyone I meet is a brother or sister and deserves to be treated as such. Service is an important part of my life. Whether in an assignment in church or helping someone I've just met serving is the quickest way to show my faith and love for Heavenly Father's children and to give back just a little for all the blessings I receive. When an opportunity comes up I like to let others know who I am and what I believe. I have served in many capacities in the church. From serving twice as a scoutmaster in Boy Scouting in our youth programs to teaching Sunday classes of 7 year olds or classes of adults I have had great opportunities to share my faith, experiences and love for the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love to teach and bear testimony of Jesus Christ and how much we are blessed by what he has done for all of our Heavenly Father's children. Currently I assist others in finding employment. It is challenging and rewarding when a position is found and someone can again provide independently for his or her family.

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

Tony
It is possible that you may already know someone who is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You may attend a meeting at one of our church meeting houses. They are easily found in the phone book or online. You may also call 1-888-537-6600 to arrange for representatives of the church to visit your home, answer your questions and share a brief message about our beliefs in Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father's plan for our happiness.
