Hi I'm Barbara

I am a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a grandmother of 34 and a great-grandmother of 6 1/2. I have been married to my current husband for 37 years. It was a second marriage for both of us. I had 4 children and he had 5 children when we got married and then we had 3. My husband is a wonderful dancer and that is one of the reasons I fell in love with him. I now work at Curves and love the people I meet there. I also work for a lady that has a business in her home. I still love to dance but I think I have wore my husband out and so now I teach line dancing and I can get my dancing fix and he can stay home and rest. I guess this is my hobby. I like to read mostly non-fiction books but after I belonged to a book club I learned to read some fiction. My favorite fiction writer is Nicolas Sparks.

Why I am a Mormon

My dad was not a member but my mother was a convert to the church and so I was raised a Mormon. I grew up liking to go to church but when I married my first husband, who was not a member, I wasn't as active as I was when I was younger. My real conversion came when I was in my early thirties. My husband and I were having struggles and I separated from him and to make a long story short some circumstances caused him to join the church. We got back together and started temple preparation classes. I was like a sponge and wanted to learn more and more about the gospel. This was a starting point of my life-long wanting to know more. My husband changed so dramatically. He was almost perfect for about 6 months. He quit smoking, drinking and even cussing. He paid his tithing faithfully and he bore a wonderful testimony. He was my miracle because while we were separated I was starting on a downhill trend. I feel like Heavenly Father was giving me a second chance. After about 6 months, he started to revert back to his previous lifestyle. We eventually divorced but we have remained friends as we share 4 children and he truly loves his children. I will be forever grateful unto him for the part that he played in my conversion. In fact he told me to never quit going to church. I am sorry that he has not chosen to come back yet, but I am now married to a wonderful man and we have been sealed in the temple for time and all eternity. I continue to grow in the gospel and am still learning more and more and have been truly blessed in may ways even though we have been through many trials. I do not know how I would have survived without my faith. I have continued to learn and grow and the Holy Ghost has been a witness to me of the truth of many things.

How I live my faith

I am now teaching a class of 8 yr old children. I have been teaching these same children for 4 years and I love to see them grow in the gospel. They have now all been baptized and I enjoy being a part of their lives. I have learned many things from them. I try to have true charity towards all people. I have learned that charity is the pure love of Christ and to treat people like He did. This is not always easy and I try not to judge others. I truly love to be around people and most of the jobs I have had I have been able to work with different people and I have made many friends. My goal is to be a good example of what a Mormon is. I am truly a happy person and I love life and have been truly blessed and would like others to have this same knowledge so they can feel of His love as I do on a daily basis.
