Hi I'm Scott

I'm grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm studying business at BYU. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm a student at Brigham Young University studying Business Strategy/Finance. I'm originally from Las Vegas, served a Mormon mission in Washington state, studied abroad in Jerusalem, and have interned in Irvine, California. I love my family, road biking, mountain biking, snowboarding, business literature, tennis, volleyball, soccer, hiking, and traveling the world. I raced in a triathlon this summer for the first time, and I'm training for another. I'm always on the go, and trying to make my days as productive as possible. I simply want to soak as much out of life as possible - carpe diem!

Why I am a Mormon

Thankfully, I was blessed to be given parents who are members of the Mormon church. I had to find out for myself if this church was true, however. It wasn't an easy process, but by reading and studying the book of Mormon during my high school years, I came to know that the church was truly God's restored church on this earth. I know that we have purpose in our lives. The Mormon church teaches about the Plan of Salvation, which explains where we came from, why we are here on earth, and where we will go after this life. Knowing the answers to these questions gives me such purpose in my life. I'm happy because I know my divine heritage and the end goal of my life. It's empowering to know who I am. That is why I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live and breathe my faith everyday. The Mormon church teaches about being an active role in others lives through service and by just being a friendly person. I have made it a point in my personal philosophy to never think myself higher than another. Therefore, whenever someone needs help, I'll do my best to assist them. At church, I help organize and guide a group of 40 young men my same age. We learn, teach, and share personal experiences with each other every week when we meet at church. It's empowering to know that you have a base of friends that you can easily relate with about daily life.

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Joseph Smith was chosen by God to restore Jesus Christ's original church to the earth again. This happened in the early 1800's. The church is known to the world as the "Mormon" church because of the book of scripture that Joseph Smith was given to translate, called the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less
