Hi I'm Carmen

I am a project manager, chef, tutor, referee, counselor, and stay at home mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother of four. My favorite thing to do is to play board games with my family. I like to volunteer at my children's school. I love to read books to my children. We just finished the third book of Fablehaven and now we are reading Harry Potter. I enjoy problem solving, party planning, scrapbooking, and making desserts. I am learning to garden in the desert. I value education and am proud of my bachelor degree from the University of Utah. I pride myself on not being too busy.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon is hard work. It takes commitment and sacrifice. But the gospel of Jesus Christ brings peace and joy into my life. The more closely I follow the commandments, the more I feel the companionship of the Holy Ghost. I feel a direction and purpose in my life that cannot be found anywhere else. I know there is a God in Heaven that is watching over us, he wants to bless and enrich our lives; but he can only do that if we are following His laws. Heavenly Father cares about our daily lives, it is through the Holy Ghost that he directs us to further His work. If I am praying and reading His word (the Scriptures), I feel the Holy Ghost directing me throughout my day. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know he atoned for my sins, so that I can be clean. As I follow the commandments, pray, read the scriptures and repent, I am happier, more patient, kinder and more loving. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a blessing in my life. The peace, joy, and love I feel when living the gospel is well anything I am asked to sacrifice.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being kind and serving other people. I live my faith by teaching my children the gospel. I live my faith by planning Family Home Evening. Family Home Evening is a program of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The LDS church has set aside Monday nights as Family Night; this means there is no church meetings or activities on Monday night. Family Home Evening is a time to teach the gospel, sing, and play games together as a family. My children love Family Home Evening! They love spending time playing together as a family. I live my faith by being the Activity Day Leader in my ward. Activity Days is a program in the church where girls ages 8-11 get together twice a month to do activities together. We have done fun things like decorate cakes, plant a garden, build a huge fort, play soccer. We have also taught them about good study habits, eating healthy, following the prophets and living the gospel of Jesus Christ. I live my faith by going on dates with my husband. Almost every week my husband and I go on a date or double date together. My husband and I have been sealed for eternity in Salt Lake Temple. I know family relationships remain beyond the grave. In order for my husband and me to continue to grow our relationship we must spend quality time alone together. As much as we love our children, one day they will leave home and my husband and I will be left alone together. I want our relationship to remain strong and healthy. We do this by doing fun things together.
