Hi I'm Jerry

I started my own business 32 years ago I am a general contractor and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 37 years, am a father of 2 boys and four girls who are all married in the temple and have 13 grand children with two more on the way. As you may guess family is very important to me. As our children were growing up our family went camping and water skiing a lot. Every family has trials but we tried to do fun things together that would make lasting good memories. I started my own fence company and each of our children had the opportunity to go to work with me at some point in their lives. I feel that this gave them a perspective that was good for them, including to see how hard someone might work to earn money, to develope some kind of work ethic, to realize that it's ok to work hard to be able to play hard. My two boys now run that fence company and I am a general contractor specializing in remodeling. I also enjoy playing guitar, old cars, and long walks with my sweetheart.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church when I was about eight years old while living in Colorado. A few year later we moved to Washington state and although our parents were inactive from time to time, my sister and I remained active. We chose our close friends from among church members and some of those people are still our close friends. After high school I served as a Missionary for the church for two years in north Texas, which strengthened my testimony of Jesus Christ. I've always felt a need to make good choices in my life and although I've made mistakes, The Church has helped me to have a good foundation that I could build the rest of my life upon. Life is like building a beautiful home, You need to start with a good solid foundation, then with careful planning put beautiful workmanship into the building of it. If you build with junk, it will show . Since family is so important to me, I know it is my responsibility to set a good example for my children and grandchildren. In today's world parents need all the good influence they can get to help their family get past the evil things in life. The church helps with that.

How I live my faith

I have had the privelage of serving in many positions in our church. I have enjoyed very much working with our youth. I have gone on back packing, camping and canoe trips with our young men. My wife and I have helped plan four day events for large numbers of young men and women that include having inspirational speakers, fun activities and great meals to ensure that they had a good time and were well fed both physically and spiritually. I have had the opportunity to help a family who's house burned down to those who needed a place to live to those who needed food. I have cried with those who have lost children to dreadful disease, and watched as families have sent their children off to foreign lands to serve as church missionaries, and watched those same children come back as wonderful responsible adults.
