Hi I'm Andrew

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated from college with a bachelor's degree in Music Education. While I studied with an emphasis in choral education, I am now teaching general music classes for Kindergarten through sixth grade. Recently I finally followed a mini-dream and joined a hand bell choir. It's difficult but fun to be a member of a musical ensemble that requires so much precision and concentration.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in a Mormon household. When it came time to go on a mission for two years at age 19, I still wasn't sure about the church on a personal level. I decided to hold off on a mission until I knew for sure. I had always taken the church for granted, but couldn't do that anymore if I was to go out on my own and only have my own faith to stand on. Through my own prayer and scripture study I finally became aware of how I could receive answers to my prayers from God. I could then look back on my life and become aware of when I had felt His spirit. I also became aware of my own testimony of the church and the truth it teaches. I then went on a mission for two years and have never regretted it.

How I live my faith

My faith affects how I treat other people. I had always heard growing up that the people around me were also spirit sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father, but it didn't really mean anything to me until I felt more of the spirit of God and felt a tiny portions of His feelings towards them. The implications are immense. The same perspective goes for events in my life. I have had several large issues with anxiety in the past, but they always pass faster when I have been close to the spirit of the Lord through prayer, scripture study, and following the commandments. While I believe that there are many ways to feel the spirit of Lord, music has helped me most of all. Well, maybe not most of all, but quite a bit. I am the choir director of our ward, and have always made the main goal of our singing in church to bring the spirit of the Lord into the meeting and help the congregation worship. Both things have happened.
