Hi I'm Donna

I was born in Nebraska but have lived in Texas since I was 9. I am married and have 3 children of my own and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I worked in the school systems in the Houston area for 27 years and retired in 2001. I was widowed at the age of 47 after almost 27 years of marriage. I remarried a few years later to a wonderful man. I love to be outside and prefer yardwork to housework any day. My husband and I have enjoyed traveling and have been to London, Paris, Venice, Rome, Norway, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand and Ghana, West Africa. The last one was not exactly on my list, but that is where we went to serve a mission teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and it was a wonderful experience. I was raised in the Methodist Church and can't remember not believing in Jesus Christ as my Savior and Redeemer of the world. I have 3 daughters and 8 grandchildren that are the light of my life. Family is very important to me and we are a very close family. We don't live near each other but we try to get together for birthdays, holidays, and when ever it is possible.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a very common sense person. After I was widowed I started dating a man that was a Mormon. I did not know anything about his church so I went to my church in the morning and to his church with him in the afternoon. I begin to learn answers to questions I had had all my life, like why am I here and how can Jesus and God be the same person as is taught in the trinity concept. What was amazing, my mind opened up to so many other things, like if my spirit did not die with my body, then it existed before I was born in a physical body. It was like a flood of new information. I read the Book of Mormon and knew it was true. No man could have written it, it truly came from God and was translated by Joseph Smith. I am a child of God and He loves me and knows me by name. There is so much that we can learn if we just open ourselves to the truth.

How I live my faith

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and try to live everyday following the perfect example set by Jesus Christ. Yes I fall short. My husband and I have served in Ghana, West Africa and with our military men and women but some of the most important service is in our own families and communities. One of the programs of the Church is that every member should have someone visit them every month. We see people and greet them, but when we visit someone in their home we get to know them better and how we can be of service to them. I have gotten to know some wonderful sisters (and I truly feel they are my sisters) through this program. My husband and I don't drink, smoke, and we cheerful pay our tithe. We are so thankful for the many blessings that we receive.
