Hi I'm Lori

I live in Arizona. I love the great outdoors, I'm a photographer, I love my family and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California and then moved to Arizona. I'm married to my best friend and we have four wonderful adult children, one daughter, three sons. We laugh a lot and have a great time when we all get together, especially when we all go to Utah for our annual ski trip. I love the mountains, the beach and everything in between! I love to hike, camp, ski, bike ride, snorkel, swim and practice yoga. I love to travel. My husband and I have traveled all around the United States and have a goal of visiting every National Park. I have been to many countries in Europe and enjoy learning about other cultures. I even went to Egypt and rode a camel! I also enjoy trying new foods and experiencing different cuisines. I'm a really good cook too! At least my family tells me that I am. I am a professional photographer. I photograph weddings and take individual and family portraits. Photography is my creative outlet and I'm fortunate enough to earn money while I'm being creative. I enjoy capturing moments in time through my camera, as well as capturing the beauty of nature. Interesting photographs make people happy and I like to make people happy! Most important of all, I'm a mom! I loved raising my family and the true gospel of Jesus Christ helped my husband and I to do that. Now they are adults and are building their own lives. I look forward to being a grandma some day! I love my family with all my heart! My husband and my kids are the most important part of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Shorty after I married my sweetheart Dan, I learned about the true gospel. I was baptized and became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was 21 years old. This was the best decision I ever made in my life, next to choosing my wonderful husband. These choices have helped me to find happiness in my life! I can't imagine how my life would have turned out if I hadn't found the gospel as a guide in my life, but I know that before I was baptized I wasn't headed in the right direction. When I met with the missionaries and learned about the gospel, everything they taught made so much sense to me! I always believed in God and was raised in a spiritual home, but the principles of the gospel were never before explained to me in such a clear and simple way. It just made sense! Heavenly Father loves us and His Plan of Salvation makes it possible for families to be together forever! I wanted this blessing for my family! The atoning sacrifice of our Savior Jesus Christ makes it possible for us to repent of our mistakes and return to the presence of our Father in Heaven and his Son Jesus Christ. As I was taught by the missionaries I felt the Holy Spirit like I had never felt it before and the Spirit helped me to know that what they were teaching me was true! Having the true gospel of Jesus Christ as a guide in my life has helped me to make good choices throughout my life and has helped bring me and my family happiness. The gospel helps me to avoid bad choices and pitfalls that can hurt me and my family and cause problems and unhappiness. When we strive to keep the commandments Heavenly Father blesses us. That does not mean that we won't have challenges or problems in life. But when we seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit, keep the commandments, search the scriptures for light and knowledge, we can deal with and overcome the challenges of life. Our Father in Heaven wants us to be happy and the restored gospel of Jesus Christ helps us to find happiness!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by praying each day to my Father in Heaven, keeping the commandments, searching for light and knowledge by reading the scriptures, attending my church meetings, giving service to my family and and others and by trying my best to be helpful and honest in all I do. I try to be a good example for my family. I have served in many capacities in my church. We refer to these positions or jobs as "callings". We receive no monetary compensation for these positions. Even our bishop serves as a volunteer. Currently I am a Cub Scout leader. I enjoy working with the 8 year old boys and helping them learn and progress in the Cub Scouting program. My husband and I work together as Den Leaders. In previous callings I have been a nursery leader working with the sweet little 18 month to 3 year old's, I have taught Sunday school for the elementary school age children, I was a youth leader for the teenage girls, and I taught lessons to our women's group. I have been in charge of organizing activities and community service projects. With every calling I have been asked to do, I have learned may things. Some callings have been more challenging than others, but each experience has helped me to learn new things and to grow as an individual. I like to help other people and being a member of the church gives me more opportunities to give service to others. Families are very important in our church and to our Heavenly Father. We are encouraged to spend some quality family time together every Monday night. Even though our kids are adults and do not live with us any more, we try to get together as often as possible for Sunday dinners, vacations or maybe just to go on a hike together. We continue to strengthen our family relationships by spending time together. We look forward to our family growing when our kids get married and have their own families. We are thankful that we are a close family and that our kids still seek our advice and counsel and even follow it sometimes!
