Hi I'm Sherri

I am a triathlete. I sing opera. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy all things outdoors! I feel close to God when I am surrounded by His beautiful creations. When I am training for athletic events I use that time to pray and express gratitude for all of my blessings and to seek help for myself, my family, and others. I sing opera and have performed for many years. Singing is a way to communicate soul to soul, especially when I sing about something I love. My favorite Christmas tradition is singing Handel’s Messiah with a local interfaith choir. For me, it is like a two hour musical prayer of sacred praise and testimony. It is a welcome contrast to the commercialism that can overwhelm our culture this time of year!

Why I am a Mormon

My mother was a member of the church and taught me and my brother and sister with faith and testimony. I remember her praying when things were difficult. My father did not share her faith, but thankfully he did not object to our participation. I find great joy in learning how to live close to the Savior. It brings me peace to know that I am loved, and never alone. The church provides me with opportunities to serve others and to focus my energy to help those in need within and beyond my own small circle. The Book of Momon blesses my life each day. I have found comfort in its teachings and witness of the Savior, particularly in times of stress. The years spent alone raising my children after their father died would have been impossibly difficult without the light and hope I found in the pages of that book! I literally kept it on my bed so that I could open it each morning and discover what gifts of truth could bless my life that day! And today, I continue to seek for and find treasures in the Book of Mormon that are relevant to me today!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by praying each day and seeking guidance for the struggles I face, large or small. I try to always remember to express love and gratitude to everyone in my circle. Everywhere I go, I look at people and consider the great love that the Lord has for each person, and try to treat them with kindness and respect. There are many blessings in my life, but when difficult trials come, I trust in the Lord and turn to Him for comfort and direction. He has never forsaken me.
