Hi I'm Eric

I am from Kansas. I am a software engineer. I believe in Jesus Christ and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a software engineer. I am married and have two energetic boys. My wife and I also provide foster care for two little boys. I used to coach my son's soccer team till I reached the limits of my skill level. I am a volunteer member of my children's school site council. I like puttering around in my yard and garden.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe He was born of a virgin in Bethlehem. I believe He is the Son of the living God. I believe He performed many miracles in his mortal ministry. I believe Jesus Christ suffered and died for our sins and that through him we may return to our Heavenly Father. I believe that Jesus Christ will return again someday. I believe in the Bible and in the Book of Mormon. I feel the witness of the Holy Ghost testifying that both are true. Both testify of Jesus Christ. I am amazed at the clarity of the gospel that comes from reading the Book of Mormon and the Bible. I believe that Jesus Christ has restored the fulness of His gospel in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by teaching the gospel to my children. About once a week we have a family home evening in which we talk about a gospel topic and have some fun as a family. We read regularly from the scriptures. I also am assigned to visit the homes of a few families in our congregation each month. I share a gospel message and we encourage each other in our efforts to live the gospel. I enjoy visiting these families. Each are at different stages of life. It is nice to visit with other people who are trying to live their faith and who have struggles just like all of us. I find myself praying for them. In church, I have had opportunities to teach, lead church auxiliaries, and be a financial clerk. Some of my most challenging assignments have been to be a membership clerk in a Spanish congregation (finally a use for that high school Spanish class) and to learn American Sign Language to interpret for deaf members of our congregation (I am the most uncoordinated person on the planet). My favorite thing to do is to teach, especially a youth Sunday School class. Right now I am assigned to help the full-time missionaries. We have great missionaries in our area and I love when I get to participate in the lessons they teach people about the Church and the gospel. I believe that living my faith means that I look for opportunities to do good. I don't always recognize those opportunities or take advantage of them but I am trying. It has been a big challenge providing foster care but hopefully we are doing some good.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Eric
When the missionaries visit with you they will teach you about Jesus Christ and how he is our Savior. They will talk about our Heavenly Father's plan of happiness for each of us. They will answer your questions about our church, about God, about religion. Show more Show less
