Hi I'm Joshua

I'm a Mormon...dyed in the wool, true blue, through and through. :)

About Me

I've moved around a lot in my life. Currently I'm in Georgia mostly being a stay-at-home dad. My wife works for Georgia Institute of Technology and we have a baby boy that was born in April of this year. I have a wide range of interests. I practice Wing Chun Kung Fu. I spent some time in the Army as a helicopter mechanic. I have always had a lot of interest in computers and have done a lot of work in that field. I am also a Massage Therapist and very interested in health and wellness in general.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family of very strong members. Many of my finer qualities are the result of good upbringing. As with anyone I have had many opportunities to consider whether the church was the path I wanted to follow in my life. Of course it hasn't been all puppies and rainbows, but through the times of doubt and difficulty the Spirit has been there to give me peace and reassurance that I was where I was supposed to be. As I've studied and learned more of both secular and church teachings I have found great wisdom and logic in the simplicity of the gospel. My Father in Heaven has been kind enough to speak both to my heart and to my mind which has afforded me not only a profound heartfelt love for the gospel, but also a deep understanding of it's truth and importance.

How I live my faith

One of the greatest responsibilities and opportunities I feel we have been given as members of this church is that of sharing what we have learned. My purpose isn't to try to convince the whole world that they should join our church, but rather to make all the wonderful blessings I've had in my life available to anyone that would receive them. The peace and love I have felt in my life as a result of being taught the gospel is something that everyone needs, especially in the kind of times we live in when things are so uncertain and difficult. I also have the wonderful opportunity to share the faith and testimony I have been given with my family and with other members of the church.

What is faith?

Faith is a very important principle, not just in religion, but in all aspects of life. Joseph Smith described it as "the principle of action in all intelligent beings." In other words, it is only by faith that any intelligent being (that means us) performs any sort of action. Think about it. If you had absolutely no faith that a light would come on, would you ever flip the switch? Still think you have no faith? The truth is, no human being can function on any significant level without it. We have faith that the world is going to operate as we expect. Therefore, we continue to live our lives. The wonder of building faith in the gospel, and more specifically in God and his son Jesus Christ, is it gives us a glimpse into things far beyond our mortal understanding. Faith allows us to rely on beings that completely understand the universe and eternity to help us see what awaits us beyond this life, what we are truly capable of, and how significant our existence here really is. For me faith has always been an unending source of a still and reassuring inner peace that everything will turn out alright; that my Father in Heaven knows who I am and has a plan for me. It's like they say: "It will all be ok in the end. If it's not ok...it's not the end." Show more Show less
