Hi I'm Roger

I'm a husband, I'm a father, I believe in Jesus Christ, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have a wonderful wife and and a father of two great kids. My daughter is now in college and my son is in high school. I enjoy playing golf, watching my son play soccer, cruising with my beautiful wife, and taking family vacations. I joined the Church about a year after the birth of our daughter. I am a CPA and I work for a prestigious engineering university in Colorado.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I know by the power of the Holy Spirit that our Church is the only true church on the earth at this time. While I grew up attending various churches and I had a basic belief in God, I would not say I came from a religious family. After the birth of our daughter, my wife and I agreed that it was important to have some type of religion in our lives, just as we had both had when we were growing up. We "shopped" around and visited several different churches but none of them felt right for us. My wife suggested we visit a Mormon church and my initial reaction was "no way". What I did not know was that my wife had been baptized when she was 8 but her family went inactive right after her baptism, so she did not grow as an active member of the Church. After our first visit, something felt right, but I was still along way from thinking I would join the Church. We continued to visit other churches but nothing felt like it did when we attended the Mormon church. I researched the main christian faiths, including the Mormon Church, to learn about their beliefs and their origins. It was important to me that if I was going to join a church and try to teach my children about God, I wanted it to be from God's true church. Thanks to the efforts of some of my wife's family, we received a visit from the Church missionaries. I was impressed that young 19 to 22 year old young men and women would be willing to spend eighteen months to two years of their lives serving their Church. They bore their testimonies to me, taught me the gospel, challenged me to read the Book of Mormon and testified to me that the Spirit would let me know if the Church was true. I now have my own testimony of the Church and the Book of Mormon. I have come from "no way" to knowing it is the "only way" for us to return to live with our Heavenly Father again some day.

How I live my faith

I would say I am very active in my ward and I get the opportunity to give more service both in and outside of the Church than I ever thought I would do or even would want to do. As a member of the Church, I have been taught, through Christ's example and teachings, the importance of losing yourself in the service of others. More importantly, my kids have also been taught the importance of giving service to others. As a Cub master and Scoutmaster , I get the wonderful opportunity to introduce young boys to the Scouting program. As an Eagle Scout and as the parent of an Eagle Scout, I tam thankful that the Church has adopted the Scout program as the official program for the young men of the church. I give thanks to my Heavenly Father everyday for the countless blessing I have in my life.
