Hi I'm Sue

I'm a displaced Texan with a lingering southern drawl. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother and grandmother with four children and two grandchildren. I work full-time and spend my free time reading and cooking or reading about cooking. As an "empty nester", I share my culinary creations with my co-workers and friends. My children have always thought I should open a small restaurant/used bookstore. In past years, I was very active politically--serving on the Planning Commission and City Council of the small town in which I lived. Less involved currently, I have always stressed to my children the importance of voting and have been very pleased that each of my children has exercised this right from the earliest age they were eligible to vote. Whenever our family has moved, our first priorities have been to locate the church, register to vote and to apply for a library card.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the church. My older brother and his family converted 40+ years ago and sent the missionaries to the rest of the family. After a few different rounds of missionaries, my husband and I joined the church. Family has always been the most important aspect of my life and it is a central part of the church. The restored gospel made so much sense to me and I just knew that it was true. I have now been a member of the church for 32 years. The guidance and peace the gospel provides have blessed me throughout the years I have been a member and I can't imagine what my life would be without the gospel.

How I live my faith

I have had the privilege of serving in many capacities in the church, from working in the nursery to working with the Cub Scouts and the women's organization in the church. My life has been blessed through the associations and friendships I have enjoyed in my "callings." Holding fast to the gospel has helped me through some difficult times in my life. Going through divorce and single parenthood, the knowledge that my Heavenly Father knows me, loves me and has a plan for me made it--not easy--but possible for me to stay afloat. These experiences have helped make me more understanding of and more able to help others who may find themselves in similar situations. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I cannot imagine living my life without it.
