Hi I'm Vernon

I'm a father, a husband, and a professor. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

When I'm not teaching, meeting with students, or working on my current research projects, I'm most likely with my family. I enjoy spending time with my wife and children. We spend time working around the house and yard, doing homework and chores, but what we enjoy most is playing games together as a family. We've got quite a collection of games at this point and take turns picking a favorite after everything else is done for the day.

Why I am a Mormon

My experiences have led me to a deep belief in Jesus Christ. There are many things I admit I don't yet fully understand, but I have repeatedly tested my faith and found God's support and guidance in my life. In short, I have found, without exception, that when I follow my faith, doing my best to make what I believe are right choices, I find a happiness and peace in the deepest part of who I am. Things don't always work out and life is not easy, but I feel assurance and peace as I seek to live up to what I believe.

How I live my faith

I try to live up to my beliefs in my daily life. I'm far from a perfect person, but I seek to make my faith in Christ reflect in all of my choices. In addition, I believe that my home and family should be a place of peace and love. My wife and I strive to create a place of nurturing that strengthens our children and helps us all to feel of God's spirit in our home. I also work within my church's youth program, helping them find spiritual strength and support in all of the challenges of their teenage years. I'm involved in my congregation, helping to teach when asked, to plan events, to coordinate service, and to help where I can.
