Hi I'm Melia

I'm a Mother, a Photographer, a Volleyball player, a Family History Seeker, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of energetic children who love life and run at full speed. I enjoy my time with them while trying to juggle the many demands of life. As a busy mother, I find peace and joy in the blessings of life and I know it is a great blessing to be a mother in these days of unrest and difficulties. I too can embrace life as I move forward in a world that I feel is not always a safe haven for my children. It is why I lean towards the one sure foundation and source of peace, my Savior, Jesus Christ. He has blessed me with the opportunity to create not only life but create things that bring happiness and joy to my life. I love capturing moments of life that quickly pass us by and create for myself and others unforgettable moments that can be reflected upon through photography. I enjoy playing volleyball, scrapbooking memories on my computer of my family and reading a good book while sipping on hot chocolate! One of my most favorite hobbies, is searching for my roots and discovering the rich heritage that is mine as I continue to unlock the door on the past and open to a brighter future. Family History for me, has been an incredible journey and I have found that we truly are all children of our Father in Heaven and that Jesus Christ is our Elder brother.

Why I am a Mormon

As a primary song that I learned as a child says: "I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know who I am. I know God's plan. I'll follow Him in Faith. I believe in the Savior, Jesus Christ. I'll follow His ways. I do what is right. I'll follow His light. His truth I will proclaim!" That really says it all. As a child, I relied on the testimony of my parents, but as the years past, the Lord provided opportunities for me to find out for myself if the things I had heard and had been taught were true. I came to realize that indeed what I had been taught at home and at church were from God and that the path I was on would bring me the greatest peace and happiness. This witness to me of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ came to me by the power of the Holy Ghost that I received by my father in June of 1986 through the power of the priesthood of God. I have since relied upon that same spirit to guide and direct me throughout my life as I have come to look towards the true light of the world, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith daily as I strive to follow the footsteps of the Savior as he taught in his holy scriptures. One of the ways I can follow Him is by serving in his church. I am currently working with the children that are 3 years old up to 11. What a great blessing it is to work with the children of God and help them begin to understand that God loves them and wants them to be happy in this journey through life. I enjoy teaching them from the scriptures and sharing with them the feelings I have for the Lord and how they can better serve Him as they walk on the path back to their Father in Heaven. I also volunteer at the local Historical Society library in our town. I enjoy being on the board of directors and working with others that have a great love and devotion to the city and history of the people and places of the past. What a great way to get to know other community members. As a girl who grew up in Los Angeles, California, I never could of imagined that I'd raise my children on the other side of the country in a "rural" area. Since moving to the beautiful state of Pennsylvania, where many of the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints once lived as well as where much of the Book of Mormon was translated, I also have ancestors that had settled here too. This area that I now call home was founded by my ancestors in the early 1700s. It has truly been a wonderful experience as I have begun to piece together the great puzzle of my family that once lived upon the very soil that I now walk. The way I live my faith is something that I treasure greatly. One of the important ways that I can grow my faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ is by studying the scriptures. I love waking up early in the morning while the house is still quiet and ponder on the things that I read daily in the scriptures. I have felt a power that I never knew I could feel as I have truly "feasted upon the words of Christ." What a blessing it is to be alive!
