Hi I'm Clarissa

I'm a wife, daughter, sister, designer, and I'm a Mormon too.

About Me

I am a college graduate trying to venture out into this vast world. Where I will end up and what lies ahead of me is very much a mystery. I work at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah and just adore spending time with the Lord's servants. Utah hasn't always been my home. I grew up on casseroles in a humble yellow home with my parents and nine siblings in Wisconsin. I also spent 18 months in California's central valley as a missionary. Between the day to day activities of school and work, I love being goofy with my husband, going on outdoor adventures, traveling via car, bike, or my own feet, dancing like a maniac, discovering new music, creative writing, designing, and using American Sign Language. I was baptized at the age of eight and have slowly but surely become a convert my entire life. The Lord’s love and teachings are embedded into the very threads of who I am. I cannot imagine a life without them.

Why I am a Mormon

I live the gospel of Jesus Christ because it is a gospel of joy! Being a Mormon gives me direction, hope, peace, and security. Life can be hard and sometimes bring me down. When I trust in God and do as He asks he gives me feelings of hope, joy, and comfort, all through His spirit. The gospel of Jesus Christ helps me focus on the most important things in life, the things that bring true happiness like family and service. I am also a Mormon because it just makes sense, both in my heart and mind. Everything in my life points toward its truthfulness. Feeling the Holy Spirit over and over again has been a personal testimony to its truthfulness. Having felt His power so many times has confirmed to me that He could be nothing but real. I see my everyday conversion paraphrased in one simple scripture: "I knew it, and I knew that God knew it, and I could not deny it, neither dared I do it" (JSH 1:25).

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to reflect Christ's love through service and obedience. I try to take advantage of opportunities to help others. They come often if I am seeking them. I try to show my faith in Jesus Christ by representing Him through my everyday little actions. Smiling, ministering in my church calling, staying positive, serving in the temple, doing random acts of kindness and being a good friend are a few simple activities I enjoy.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Nope. Everyone has a choice. Ask any current or returned missionary why they decided to serve. Often their answer is very personal and rooted in their feelings of the Savior. Mine is. Show more Show less
