Hi I'm Darlene

I live in the beautifully green state of Washington and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music, birds, walking, camping, the ocean and making cookies! I am an avid reader and enjoy doing puzzles and playing board games with my family. My husband and I raised 7 beautiful children, 5 boys (1 still in High School) and 2 girls, and now get to enjoy being grandparents to 5 girls and 1 boy. I currently work in our school district as a substitute paraeducator. Life offers opportunities to learn something new everyday. I feel that if we are open to it, we can find joy in even the most mundane tasks and anything we do that brings a smile to others always makes us happy too.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I enjoyed all the activities which are part of being a member. One of my fondest memories of growing up was sitting in our Sunday Sacrament worship service with my family. I always had a warm feeling when we went to church together. Family prayer unified us and I grew up knowing I could always go to Heavenly Father in prayer on my own with anything I was concerned about. This was and is a great comfort to me. I know I am never alone. I have learned that the Lord gives us commandments so we have the greatest potential of finding true happiness. I am thankful for our Savior Jesus Christ. His atonement makes it possible to have hope. I know that I can start new every day and try to do better. I can be forgiven of my sins and keep looking ahead. I am grateful to know the plan that the Lord has for me. Through prayer, the scriptures and the teachings of our living Prophet, I can know where my focus should be and receive personal revelation to guide me.

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon helps me want to be a better person. I try to be an example of the principles I hold dear. Knowing how much Heavenly Father loves all of His children helps me to appreciate others more. Each person is precious in His sight. As a member of the Church I have had many opportunities to serve children, teens and adults in various capacities within our congregation and also in our community. Many times I have experienced happiness in giving of myself that I don't think can come in any other way. In living my faith, my family is of ultimate importance to me. My husband and I see our relationship in an eternal perspective, we see our children not only as ours, but also as children of God. I do my best to center my activities around the well being of my family. I'm a better wife and mother when I try to follow the example of Jesus Christ. I'm thankful that our children know they are children of God and that He loves them and wants them to be happy.
