Hi I'm Mashayla.

Although I'm not perfect, and I come from a seperated family, doesnt mean I don't know where I'm going. Why? Because I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Basically, I’m a wild flower in a bouquet of a dozen roses. I come from a separated family. When I was nine my parents divorced, and I was tossed between homes for seven years. Now, I am serving in the Bacolod, Philippines Mission! I quit my Job, I was an orchestra teacher at the local academy, I quit school and I left my family- all because I have a deep love for this gospel. And, I owe everything I have to the Lord. I love this gospel so much, thats why I'm sacrificing 18 months of my life to serve a mission for our Father in Heaven. I’m a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints, a Mormon, and I wouldn’t change it for anything!

Why I am a Mormon

I was partially brought up in the church. I say partially because both of my parents are members, but we never really attended church when I was a child. However, when I used to walk myself to church through snow, rain, hail, or the burning sun beating down on my shoulders, I felt at peace when I got to sit on the back row in the chapel listening to the speakers. I knew that when I was at church, or when I was following the commandments I was doing the right thing and I felt comforted. At the age of eight, I was baptized and confirmed a member of the church. It wasn’t really that significant then, but now it means the world to me. As I have gotten older, and found out who I really am, I know why I am here on this earth. I know that I was placed here at this time to do a great work for our father in heaven. The gospel of Jesus Christ makes me happy, and I’m so delighted I have the opportunity to share with the rest of the people on earth that haven’t had the chance to learn about it.

How I live my faith

Being an example of the believers; this is how I try to live my life. Because I am only human, I am not perfect, but every day I strive to be. It’s not an easy path, but I know that if I follow the teachings of Jesus and of the living prophet today, I can come close to it. I am the second counselor in the laurel class presidency. This is the class that is for the young women that are 16-18 years of age. My ward is really small, but the smallness makes it kind of like a big family. I enjoy serving the lord by serving other people in many different ways. Whether it is picking up garbage on the side of the road, or hanging Christmas lights for an elderly couple, I always feel good afterwards. It’s a great feeling to know that you have helped someone in need. In my high school I am constantly picked on because of my faith. I don’t let it bother me, but they always try and tempt me to stray from the path. But because I know that my testimony of the Gospel is strong, I can live righteously and they don’t bother me. I love to go to church, spend time with my family, and I love to serve people. I suppose that’s what makes me different from most of the world, and I’m okay with that.
