Hi I'm Kristi

I am a Foster Mom of three. I work full time & I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work full time and have three adorable foster children. I am going to be 31 and am a first time parent. I always knew I wanted children. The disappointment of infertility tormented me for years. I knew that I would adopt someday, I still believe that. A meeting with our stake president opened my eyes to a different opportunity. He asked if we had ever considered being foster parents. We had not and it seemed a bit crazy to me at first. Now I realize that the Lord has given me the chance to help children who need a safe place to live. I know it may not be permanent but I love these children. Being a foster parent is the best thing that has happened to me. I admit that going from 0 children to 3 was a whirlwind. My husband and I look back at all the time we use to have and marvel at what we wasted it on. They keep me busy. I find myself tired and sometimes in need of some "me" time, but I would not trade it. I am a better person because of these beautiful babies. They challenge me and help me see that it is not all about me and for now it is all about them. Helping them feel safe. Teaching them right and wrong. Guiding them through the pain that they feel and the uncertainty that life has thrown at them. Building their self esteem and helping them reach the understanding that they are children of God and that he loves them. It is my passion and my blessing to have them in my home.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because it has helped me overcome trials. I will never forget making the decision to live my religion. I had friends who were members of the church and actually lived it really well. In fact they were wonderful examples to me. My best friends was active and always encouraged me. I however did not know the true happiness that would come from living the gospel. I had met several people who said a they were "Mormon" and did not really live it and I think that is where I was. I think I knew the church was true I just didn't know how true it was. I had never tested it to find out for myself. I remember thinking to my self. I don't want to end up like my Dad & Mom, What could I do different. As I thought about it the answer came to me. Live your religion, live it fully. Even if it is hard do it and everything will be different. I knew if I was going to do it I could not have one foot in church and the other at a party. It meant the word of wisdom, tithing, sabbath day observance and all the other things that go into being a member a good one not just a person who says that they are a "Mormon" but does what ever they want to. As I started to live the principals of the gospel my life changed and I was blessed beyond measure. Opportunities presented them self, doors opened, I did things that I never thought I could. I went to college, served a mission, and married the love of my life. I learned that the true happiness comes from living your religion and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith a day at a time. I know what is on the other side of inactivity and I never want to go there again. I know that it can be hard especially now that I have kids to go to church every week, but I also know of the blessings that come. I have turned a corner in my life. I now live my religion to teach my kiddos what to do to find happiness. I don't know how long they will be with me and so I must take every opportunity to show them that God loves them and that he has a plan for us. I know that the gospel is my safety it is the constant in this crazy world. I love the scriptures. They help me know that the battles that I am fighting will be worth it in the end. I am so glad for the Prophet. I love general conference. Listening to the counsel of the Lord and counting myself blessed as someone who gets to hear it. I have the opportunity to teach the youth at church. I love meeting with them each week. They keep me on my toes. I have to make sure that I am listening to good music and watching good movies cause they will ask my about it. I have to make sure that I am in touch with the Lord so that when they ponder why they have to wait to date or refrain from certain activities that I can testify to them that true happiness comes from following the Lord. I am not perfect. I am however trying to do better each day so that I may have the opportunity to share some of his light with someone else. I live my faith Day by Day.
