Hi I'm Jackie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay at home mother of 4 kids. They range in age from almost 7 to almost 1. They keep me very busy, I'm trying to enjoy every moment. Sometimes are easier than others. I currently in a cooking craze. I found a cooking blog I really like, and it has made the necessary cooking more fun. One of my favorite things to do is go out to dinner with my husband and no kids. It rarely happens. I graduated in Accounting and worked for 2 years. I lived in Brazil for 1 1/2 years as a missionary. I am the youngest of 7 kids. I love to visit my family all over the U.S. Someday I would like to learn more about plants and landscaping. For now, my little yard is my practice ground. I would love to learn to be a lap swimmer and one day compete in a triathlon. I ran a marathon before I got married.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are mormon, and there parents were mormon, and their parents are mormon. But that is not the reason I am a Mormon. My parents taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ through their words and actions. They gave me a great base. When I was 21 I decided to serve a mission. That decision made me seriously think about what I believe since in a few months I would be teaching others those beliefs. I tried to look at what I had been taught as if I was hearing them for the first time. I thought about these things, I read the Book of Mormon with real intent to know if it was a book from God. I prayed before I read and asked for the Spirit to be with me. I had a huge desire to have a confirmation from God that the Book of Mormon was true, that Joseph Smith was God's prophet, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was God's church on earth. As I read and prayed, time after time I received confirmations of truth and love. I knew it was all true, and I wanted to learn more and more. I had a hunger for truth. So, that is why I am a Mormon. God has told me through the Spirit that this church is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by constantly trying to be like Jesus. I read the scriptures, I pray, I try to make my actions consistent with my beliefs. When I do wrong, I repent. I pay tithing. I try to help those around me, like families that have experienced a loss, a sickness or had a new baby. I visit those around me monthly to make sure they are feeling loved and that their testimonies are strong. I volunteer my time with the young adults. On Sunday I help teach them the gospel, and on Wednesdays I help organize activities that help them learn the gospel and have fun. I also am a Den Mother in the Cub Scouts program. Every Monday my family and I have a special night where we talk about Jesus and His church. My husband and I make sure we teach our kids the stories of Jesus and the prophets, and how to pray.
