Hi I'm Katalyn

I'm a wife and mother. I like to sing, dance, play the cello, and decorate. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to dance, ballet mostly. I also enjoy singing, playing the cello, going for walks, cooking and baking, keeping a lovely home, and being a mom. I have a beautiful little son. Before becoming a mother, I got my bachelor of science degree in microbiology, and did scientific research during my undergraduate years. I'm the wife of a current medical student. I read a lot, and enjoy anything by C.S. Lewis and Charles Dickens.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who were already members of the church, but that's not why I'm a Mormon. I'm a Mormon because, after putting into practice the principles taught me by my parents, I have found a joy and peace and a direction in this life that I know would be missing otherwise. I'm a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if it is true, and I have received an answer that it is. With that knowledge, I also know that Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God, that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer, and that by following His teachings and the teachings of His living prophets today I can return to live with Him and my Heavenly Father. I'm a Mormon because the doctrine that a family can be together forever, and that the family is central to our Heavenly Father's plan for His children, resonates with me. I'm a Mormon because I have seen and continue to see the gospel of Jesus Christ change people's lives for the better. It has changed my life for the better. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith each day by thinking of the example that Jesus set, and then trying to follow it. Sometimes it's in small things like smiling at someone in the grocery store, or saying hello to my neighbor. I try to look for the needs that I can fill in the lives of those around me, and for opportunities to serve. I study the scriptures and pray daily to have the Holy Spirit to lead me in those endeavors. Within our church women are assigned to visit and care for the needs of 1-3 other women in our church, and I try to live my faith by diligently fulfilling that assignment. I enjoy being able to know that I'm helping to watch out and care for my fellow sisters. In my church I also teach a Sunday School class for 6 and 7 year old boys. It is an exciting experience to watch these young boys grow and learn.
