Hi I'm Heather

I'm a single mom of 7 children, one with autism and two adopted with special needs, who loves to dance, and create with sugar!

About Me

I love, love being a mom. When I was approached by family members to adopt two children, I didn't hesitate, even though I already had 5 of my own. Early on I could tell there was something about these two children that was different. With them, I've learned much about the dangers of alcohol and drugs on a developing brain and about how important attachment is in parenting. I use this knowledge to educate others as often as I can. When I'm not busy being Super Mom, I love to dance! I've studied belly dancing for years now. I feel like it's taught me to love my body. I also love to go out dancing and help plan church dances so that others can enjoy it, too. I have a major sweet tooth, which is probably why I became a pastry chef. I spent 15 years teaching sugar arts to others. Now I just create from my home so I can be here for my children.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. During my teen years, I became inactive and rebelled against some of the teachings. During my pregnancy with my first born, I started to have "spiritual" cravings. I knew that I would soon be responsible for another person's life and upbringing and wanted to make sure I raised my daughter to love the Lord. I've always felt a closeness to our Heavenly Parents, more so than to my earthly ones. I know that They love me unconditionally and will always be there for me. In fact, the knowledge that I have a Heavenly Mother is the belief I hold most dear. I love that the church teaches us to put family first. I see too many women who think taking the time to raise a family is somehow demeaning to their status in the world. Motherhood is THE greatest calling, ever.

How I live my faith

I serve my church as the Single Adult Representative for my area. I help plan events for single adults, like myself, to get together with others who can relate to them and the challenges that being single can bring. I love my calling! I never thought I would be in this position at this time in my life but, I am grateful that I am able to help uplift others that are with me. Previously, most of my callings have involved music.
