Hi I'm Alyssa Williams

Life is Good! And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a typical girl that receives joy from doing random things, being with friends, and having a family to lean on. Being raised by 4 boys (my 3 brothers, and Dad) who want me to be an outdoor extraordinaire and a Mother who wants her only daughter to be a lady, is pretty conflicting! So I took the best of both worlds! I love to ski, blow bubbles, rock climb, dress up, water ski/wake board, swing on swings, mountain bike, have picnics, hike, laugh at my own jokes, sports, coloring and most importantly, tell stories! Think of a subject... I have a story; except pelicans. I went to college at beautiful Utah State University, majoring in Pre-Physical Therapy and Nursing. But I chose to put my life on hold, and to serve the Lord as a missionary in Indianapolis, Indiana. And it is the best thing that I have ever done- Life is Good!

Why I am a Mormon

I love being asked this question, "Why am I a Mormon?" Well... it has become my lifestyle! But this understanding did not come all at once; it took time and effort. I grew up in a LDS family. My mom and dad taught me what was right and wrong, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was true. But you can only stand on someone's testimony or foundation for so long, and then you begin to wonder for yourself. So I decided to take this challenge, is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints true? It was a continual process of reading the Book of Mormon, praying to my Father in Heaven and going to church. But I think most importantly, it took my DESIRE to know for myself. As I learned each day, I drew closer to my Savior Jesus Christ and I could feel his love for me. After finishing the Book of Mormon, I was expecting a large 'aw ha' moment, a monumental day in my life history that I knew that this church was true! But it didn't come. "Did I do something wrong? Was I truly not ready to know for myself?" Then it hit me. My testimony and knowledge of this Gospel was there all along, it just had to be strengthened. It had to be strengthened so I could have my own foundation to hold the rest of my life on. Life is hard, it gets tough, and sometimes we don't want to bear with it. But I know that as we build our foundation, we will be able to withstand the storms and troubles that are thrown our way. By daily scripture study, continual prayer and most importantly- putting my testimony and what I know to be true, into action. "Why am I a Mormon?" Because it has become my strength, my foundation, and my lifestyle.

How I live my faith

Our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ is the best example that all of us should follow. As a member of His church, I center my life on emulating Jesus Christ. He is the center of the Gospel, and through Him our life can become complete. As I remember Jesus Christ, my faith in Him is strengthened. I make mistakes each day, every hour and it seems like every minute; but I know that the through the Atonement or sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for each one of us, we are able to be forgiven as we repent. The Atonement is not for perfect people! But we can become perfect as we remember Jesus Christ. I have had the opportunity to serve in the church, in many different ways. But my favorite is by helping others around me feel the Spirit. It is always a pleasure to surround yourself with people that help you grow as a person. The best way to strengthen one another is with a friendly face and a smile. It brightens everyone’s day! As a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we have the opportunity to meet with new people each day. As we talk about the Gospel, I know that it strengthens their testimony for the love that God has for them.
