Hi I'm Vicki

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Mom to one wonderful son. I've spent lots of years trying to raise him on my own and it was very tough at times. We spent hours doing homework, reading, playing soccer, watching football, becoming very close. I have lots of scrapbooks and memories, been to more sports practices and games than I can count. I tried to instill in him my love for reading and learning. Didn't do as well there as I would have liked, but each of us find what we love to do in our own way. He is now on his own with his new wife and I am working on improving my own surroundings now.

Why I am a Mormon

During the really tough times in my life, I tried to turn to Heavenly Father, but I was too proud to ask for help. When the Missionaries knocked on my door, I realized that I had been procrastinating finding a Church and God was tired of waiting for me so he sent two wonderful young men that could teach me and also identify with my son in a way that he was willing to liste, learn and question on his own. Having little faith, made him question more, but he had wonderful examples around him to help him learn and grow. I have never felt more loved, more at home and more at peace since I was baptised about six years ago. I have let go of my anger and hurts of the past and learned to forgive so that I can move on. Learning of the Atonement and how to apply it to my life has changed me in ways that I thought would never happen. You can carry those chips on your shoulders for so long, that when they are lifted, you realize how heavy and defeating they really had been.

How I live my faith

I love being active in my area and being able to help others find the peace that can come with learning about the fullness of gospel and our Church. Now I go with the Missionaries when possible, to share my past and how anyone can turn their life around and find the joy that our Father in Heaven hopes we will have. I also work with the children, it is so precious to see the simple truths that is already in their hearts. Teaching a class to prepare to attend the Temple is a special honor that I take very seriously as well. The Temple has a special spirit and peace that helps everyone who enters the doors to let go of the temporal things of this life and to help prepare us for the spiritual life to come. I also work with the Single Adult group in my area to help bring us together, find activities that we can enjoy together and come closer to Christ as we journey through life.
