Hi I'm Tristan

I live in TX, I come from a big family of 10, I play the bagpipes, I love to fix and build, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the second oldest child of my family. There are 8 children in total, 5 boys and 3 girls. I have an older brother, and my siblings are my best friends. I can't imagine life without them. One day I'll get to be a dad, and that is a day I look forward to with much excitement. I was born in St. Louis, MO, but I've grown up in Utah, Pennsylvania, and we currently live in "Big Ol' Texas"! I started playing the bagpipes when I was 15 because I learned through genealogy that my roots are in Scotland. I've always thought "That would be really neat to be able to do". It takes a lot of stamina and concentration, but once you get used to it it just becomes fun. Music is such a wonderful thing. It can build friendships, cause your emotions to change, and it can just bring you closer to God. Since I was little, I've always taken things apart. I don't know why, but I just loved seeing how things work. I love mechanical things. There is just something special about things that are made to move. How someone figured out how parts need to be shaped, and how they can work together to do a more complex thing than just, say, spin in a circle. I'm not 100% sure of what I will be "when I grow up", but I keep leaning more an more towards something involving building, creating, or fixing things. I have a Chinese water dragon named Nossirom. I guess you would say that lizards are my favorite animals. I also like crows, dogs, dragons, and rats.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church so I guess you could say that's a main reason why I am a member of this church. But it's not the deepest and most personal reason. I have had a testimony for a long time, sometimes I feel like I was born with it, but as we all know a testimony is learned and earned. I guess I was very in tune with the spirit since I was little though, because I think I started building my testimony the first time I was taught that the only way to eternal life with our Heavenly Father is on our own faith and testimony of Christ, and that we can't lean on, or ride our parents testimony forever. It's all up to ourselves to accept Christ's atonement, His gospel, and follow His example. I am who I am because of this testimony and I would be a very different and miserable person without it. I love my God and my Savior and I hope I can bring God's children to understand the reason for my joy so that they can have joy in this life and in the life to come. Repentance is getting free, not getting in trouble. Christ is my savior and I shall never deny Him.

How I live my faith

Staring in September of 2011 I began my 2 year mission. It was the single most amazing thing I have done in my life so far. If we put ourselves in the service of others we are truly serving God. I have learned a lot just by going to church every Sunday. I read my scriptures as often as I can, and that sort of gives me a "boost" in life. If you don't believe me, just try it and see if God won't help. I know he does, and I know that he doesn't hold back from anybody who asks sincerely and in faith. (James 1:5)
