Hi I'm Laura

I'm from Seattle, WA and a family of 7 kids. I love to dance and read. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was homeschooled from 5th to 10th grade when I started going to a community college. I received my AA, but not a highschool diploma. Now I have my BA in English and am working as a Marketing Publicist in Utah. I've been married a little over a year and am still very happy about that turn of events. I love to read, especially Sci-Fi/Fantasy, and I'm writing a novel. I used to do gymnastics competitively for 7 years but now I dance with my husband. My favorite kinds of dance are jazz, foxtrot, and bachata. I also like to do some circus arts like tumbling, trampoline, Diablos, and Acro. I enjoy playing board games, card games, computer games, or even parlor games. I don't mind the sun of Utah, but I do miss the trees and rain of Seattle. I lived for over a year up in Alaska and love it up there, but will probably only go for a visit. I also went to school in Illinois for a semester and enjoyed being back east too.

Why I am a Mormon

I started off being a Mormon because my parents were. But now I'm a Mormon because I know that God is real and that He truly did send His Son, Jesus Christ, to this earth and to suffer for our sins so that we may one day return into His presence, cleansed from our sins. I also know that both Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appreared to Joseph Smith and called him to be a Prophet in This Modern era of the World. I know that because he was a Prophet Joseph Smith Translated the Book of Mormon so that it is the Word of God, just like the Bible. The two books support and expound on each others' testimonies of Christ and have helped me understand Him and His plan for me better. I have learned these things through study of the scriptures, prayer, and trying to live like Christ. It's been tough sometimes. There have been and are still some times where I want to do something, but the Lord wants me to do something else. I'm learning not to argue with Him, though, because He knows the big picture better than I do and He always wins anyways. The time that I spend trying to do things my way will jsut be sad and miserable. By doing things His way I have been blessed with peace, joy and understanding. Most of all I'm a Mormon because the Gospel of Jesus Christ offers me hope to be able to overcome my sins and live together with my husband and family forever with God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to read the scriptures and pray every day, both by myself and with my husband. I also try to be courteous and kind to everyone. I try to listen to good music and watch movies that don't have suggestive content. I just received a new assignment in our congregation to teach Sunday School. I'm excited because it gives me more of a reason to delve into the scriptures and learn of Christ, especially since we are studying the New Testament right now. I also have been assigned two women in our congregation to visit each month and strengthen in the gospel and just be a friend to.
