Hi I'm Darlene

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of four grown children. My husband (who is not a member) and I have six grandchildren. I'm am currently working for a Migrant Head Start program as a Disabilities/Mental Health Coordinator. This will end in January of 2012. I will then retire after working for this agency the last twelve years. Retirement is looking both good and bad. I will miss the work and my collegues here. But I do look forward to spending more time with our children and grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I am vry greatful that my testimony is still strong as to my membership in this church. It is rather difficult with my husband not being a member. I do love the Lord and desire to follow his example in my life here on the earth. I know that this church is the true church and that the prophet Joseph Smith restored it to the earth under the direction of the Lord Jesus Christ. I have known this since I was fourteen years old and the missionaries taught me about the restoration. I didn't accept it without a struggle but when they told me about the prophet reading in James 1:5 about "if any of ye lack wisdom ..." I knew that I at my young age lacked wisdom just like the young boy who became the prophet. I went to God in prayer and received that warm feeling that I knew came from on high and was a clear indication that what I asked of him was true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a teacher improvement leader in my local church. I also visit teach five sisters in our ward. I attend church every Sunday with the exception of one Sunday a month when I attend church with my husband. He attends church with me one Sunday a month. (This is how we have been able to keep peace in our lives with us belonging to two different churches).

How do I become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church)?

If you want to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I wuld suggest that you search for a church near you and attend it's meeting on Sunday. Ask to speak to the Bishop and tell him of you interest in the church. You will then be introduced to the missionaries of the church who will schedule a visit with you and begin the discussions. At a point in the discussions you will be challenged to baptism. If you are baptised you are then a member of the church. Show more Show less
