Hi I'm Jeannette

I love celebrating the little things.

About Me

Over the past four years I've gone on and off to college, and a little bit of everything else. I try to make each day count because I belive there are reasons why each of us are alive. It is probably why I love to celebrate the small simple things. One of my favorite ways to do that is to invite people over for a big home cooked dinner and get to know them better, enjoy conversation and life! I can't say that I've ever done anything remarkable or epic, nor am I especially good at any one thing, but I enjoy swimming, creating random bits of art, cooking, quilting, doodling, playing kickball, talking with friends, organizing events, visiting museums, telling stories and learning random facts. I love my family! I would do anything for them. When I think of my parents, I can't help, but feel overwhelmed with gratitude. They raised me in a loving home, sacrificing so much for my siblings and my happiness. I love my little brother and sister, so much!! A random bit about me: I've never really understood the question "is the glass of milk half full or half empty?" Isn't it a glass with milk in it? I guess, I'm a realist? Can I have some ice cubes to go with the milk?

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up going to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and I always loved going to church and learning about the scripture stories and about my Savior Jesus Christ. My parents had converted when they were younger, and they raised me and my siblings in the mormon faith. I had a lot of questions about the church growing up, I wasn't sure it was for me. But, when I was 20 I realized that I know that this is the church of Christ Jesus and that I will be a member of this church and attend it for the rest of my life. I wasn't like my siblings they seemed to figure that out a lot sooner than me. Sometimes the biggest soul searching answers of truth take a little time to sink in. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I know it is true.

How I live my faith

No matter where I've been, whether it was when I was at school in Utah, visiting my family in Washington, working in Texas, or on a mission in Iowa: I attend church every Sunday with my friends, family, and companions. Often, I try to visit others just to see how they are doing, and make sure that they know that someone cares about them. Whenever possible I try to have gospel discussions with my friends, to share the truths I've learned at church and in my scripture readings and learn from their experiences. Basically, I do little things to show my love for the Savior, by "feeding His sheep," including me. In 2011, I got to teach one of my local congregation's Sunday School classes, the topic of the class I taught was: The New Testament. It was really cool to study, learn, and teach about the great missionary work that was done during Jesus' life and shortly after his resurrection. I love the Bible! Teaching about Paul inspired me to want to serve more and be a missionary. Which is why it is awesome that I get to be in Iowa for a year and a half as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Nope. Full-time missionary work is completely voluntary. It is an opportunity for members of our faith to teach about the Savior Jesus Christ, and show love for others by sharing His gospel. Show more Show less
