Hi I'm Vanessa

I'm a Novocastrian born and bred, enjoy being nonsensical and I'm a Mormon :)

About Me

I'm an Aussie girl. Love experiencing new things but even more so, love being at home with my Family. Nothing beats inside family jokes and the love that comes from years of struggles & good times. Recently I've been studying at the University of Newcastle doing a Bach. of Arts majoring in Linguistics. I love learning about the different functions of language, especially how we communicate meaning to each other. Most of the time you can find me listening to music, at the beach or a park reading, watching movies, hanging out with the family or bludging with my friends. I love the simple things in life, especially this beautiful world that God has created for us. Travelling is a joy. I love being able to see more of God's creation and the creations man has envisioned using these God given materials.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been blessed to be raised with a knowledge of God and His church but, for most of my life, I was unaware of what a blessing that was. Eventually I wanted to know for myself if all the things I had been taught were true. Is God real? Is Jesus Christ my Saviour? Do I have a purpose in this life? Is there life after death? When I knelt down and prayed I got my answer. It was a feeling that went straight to my heart. That was it for me. I pulled up my socks and started paying attention to the lessons that God had been teaching me all my life. But this time, I was listening. By listening with my heart and mind I'm learning more everyday about the plan that God has for me, for all His children. I'm learning the answers to all my questions. The main reason I'm a Mormon is because of the peace. Peace in knowing I'll be with my family for eternity. This world is busy. The restored gospel of Jesus Christ enables me to look past the moment and find the eternal significance in seemingly meaningless tasks, to find joy and purpose in them. I'm always happiest when I'm seeking God's will, through prayer, and acting upon it. I make plenty of mistakes everyday but I know that God loves me and is proud as I repent and strive to consistently improve. This is true for everyone on this earth. I know that we are in His hands.

How I live my faith

Coming to know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is God's true church on the earth today has brought me so much joy and direction in my everyday life. Because of this, I have volunteered to serve as a full-time missionary for His church for 18 months so I can share Christ's messages with others. I know the peace and comfort this knowledge brings is something we are all searching for in life, sometimes without even knowing that we're looking for it. It is the most rewarding work I've ever done and I love every minute of it. By doing God's work I get to see His hand in everyone's life! He's there. He knows us each individually. He knows how to help us become all that we can.
