Hi I'm Keri

I love books, movies, traveling and my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to travel. Anytime I see a new place, I get giddy! I love to spend time in nature and hiking is a favorite past time of mine. When I have the chance, I love to read and watch movies. I seem to always have a book in my hand and it helps that I am able to work at a local Library. I would love to write books and maybe even try out my skills as an illustrator, but right now I just dabble in a random doodle or two.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My ancestors from both my mother's and father's side were pioneers who crossed the plains in order to escape religious persecution. They established communities that remained faithful to the Gospel of Jesus Christ for centuries. Some family members now follow their own paths, but are wonderful people and I love them all dearly. As most of my large family lives within 30 minutes of “home,” we have many family gatherings and we spend a lot of time together. We didn’t have the extravagant things that other families had, but we had each other. As a child, we would go on regular vacations to new places every year. It was too expensive to fly anywhere, so we would squeeze 6 to 8 people in a large van and drive across country. It was amazing. We scrimped, saved and planned for months in order to fit in as much adventure as possible. My family is a big part of who I am. Family is extremely important to me. I recently lost my father in his battle with cancer. Thirteen months after his passing, I also lost a dear sister in her own battle with cancer. My family grieves their passing every day. Many people ask how I am not bitter. There is a hole in my heart and a constant pain in my soul, but there is also hope. One of the beliefs that we have as members of the Church of Jesus Christ, is that our lives do not end after death. We will have our families throughout the eternities when we pass from this life. I know that I will see my Dad and my sister again. I will see all of my loved ones again and when I am able to meet them, they will embrace me with open arms and the pains of this world will fade away. This is only a part of why I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, but it is a big part of who I am and why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am able to help lead and direct matters of some of the women in my congregation. At our weekly Sunday meetings, we have lessons that are focused on Christ and our Heavenly Father’s love for us. The women of my church are able to gather together to discuss the teachings of Jesus Christ and to help others to follow those teachings as well. We are able to find members who may need help in our community and we provide relief and service to them in their time of need. We also try to remain in contact with several individuals in order to know of any needs and to give the help that is necessary. I am also able to serve in the beautiful Idaho Falls Temple to help others draw closer to Heavenly Father and to learn of eternal families.
