Hi I'm Greg

I grew up in Nevada and now live in Idaho. I like camping, watching BYU sports and spending time with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in a Mormon family and have been a member of the church my whole life. I spent my childhood with my siblings and friends wandering the deserts of Northern Nevada looking for and catching snakes and lizards. I served a Mormon mission in Central America in the country of Honduras. It was a valuable experience in my life that taught me patience, humility, a strong work ethic and a greater love for the people that I interacted with. I love all things related to math and am going to school to become an accountant. I am married to the most beautiful and wonderful woman in the world. We are definitely complementary angles to each other in all aspects of life and bring our own strengths into our marriage. I love watching college sports, especially college football, and my favorite team is the Cougars of Brigham Young University. I travel down every year to see a game live at Lavell Edwards Stadium in Provo Utah. From a very early age, I learned an appreciation for cooking and creating new food dishes. I especially love to bake bread and cheesecake. Life is full of surprises and is defined by the way you adapt to all that is given to you.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was born into a Mormon family, I needed to know for myself whether the things were true. The way that I found this is the same way that anyone can. I began by learning what the Mormon Church believes. I studied the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I listened to church leaders and actively learned everything I could. I learned that this is a church that believes we have a Father in Heaven who loves us just like our parents here on earth love us. He sent his son, Jesus Christ, to earth to become our savior and pay the price for our sins. It is through this sacrifice of Jesus Christ that we are able to return to live with our Father in Heaven after this life. Our Heavenly Father still communicates with us and guides us in a different ways. One is through the personal revelation that we receive by way of the power of the Holy Ghost when we pray. Another is through prophets that he has called to lead and guide his church, much like he did in Biblical times with prophets like Adam, Noah, Abraham and Moses. I learned that the church was taken away from the earth for a period of time shortly after the death of Jesus Christ and his twelve apostles. Because the church was taken away, it needed to be restored and reorganized. In the early 1800’s Heavenly Father called Joseph Smith to be a prophet to restore and reorganize the church he had originally established, and it has continued to the present time with prophets still being called and chosen. Even though we are more commonly referred to as “Mormons” this is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, because Jesus Christ is at its head and guides it in correlation with our Heavenly Father. Upon learning these and many more things, I prayed to my Heavenly Father to know if this was his true church, and I received an answer through personal revelation that it is true. The same invitation is extended to all people to find that answer for themselves through intent study and sincere prayer.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing the things that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ want me to be doing. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ established as church of action and want people who are ready to act, and not merely be acted upon. We are all called to be of service to the people around us and do what Jesus Christ would do if he were here personally in our place. I actively attend my church meetings, and do my best to fulfill all of my assignments. I continue to learn everything that the church stands for and teach others to do the same. I read the scriptures with my family, and go to the temple where I can do service for others. I look for ways to help people around, and through principles that the church teaches, I do all I can to become self reliant. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is designed in such a way to bring us happiness and comfort. We live our faith by taking a stand against the degradation that the world offers and by placing upon ourselves a moral code that keeps us from dangers.
