Hi I'm Agnes Elzinga

I'm a Mormon.I was born in Kamas, Utah.I have lived in midwest American most of my life.

About Me

I am a mother of five children and have 19 grandchildren. Reading biographical materials, the classics and historial information is something that I truly enjoy. As a child, I learned the value of gardening. Our family always had a vegetable garden. I learned what it meant to work and care for something of great value. People are of a great interest to me. I enjoy working with others and seeing the smiles on the faces of people when they have accomplished something. This brings true happiness to my soul. Family history is wonderful. I have done family history research for over 40 years. Researching brings chills to my heart especially when I find a name and a family that has long been hidden from my search. I have visited public records offices and copied many documents such as land records, birth and death records. I have walked up and down cemeteries, cleaned off head stones that were buried, photographed these head stones, and even visited with mortuary personal to verify the records. Great is the work of family history

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 8 years of age. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. I know that Christ came to earth to teach mankind the way to live. Thus I will have the opportunity to return and live with God. I know that Jesus Christ made the greatest sacrifice ever for mankind as he willingly give his life for all mankind. I believe that Jesus Christ Atoned for me and all the world. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that the Prophet Joseph Smith as he sought for truth did in fact see God, the Father and His Beloved Son Jesus Christ and they indeed spoke to Joseph Smith. I know that Joseph Smith did restore the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth. I know that Joseph did translate the golden plates and we have the Book of Mormon. By reading the Book of Mormon every day, it gives me the strength to do what ever I am asked to do. I know that Heavenly Father knows who I am and what I need to accomplish on this earth. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gives me the direction which allows me to accomplish what I want to do.

How I live my faith

During my life time, I have had the opportunity to lead and serve with the children, youth and sisters as well as the priesthood brethern in the church. I have taught children, youth and adults in every church organization in the church. I have organized leadership meetings, youth conferences, girls summer camp, taught cub scouts, and prepared numerous demonstrations for women as they strive to become better wives and mothers. I have served a mission in the Papus New Guinea Port Moresby, Solomon Islands mission and the Brisbane Australia mission. In the Solomon Islands, I taught the families how to read and write. Currently, I serve as a temple worker in the Winter Quarters Temple. I serve as a visiting teaching in my ward. Many of these sisters are handicapped physically and mentally. Many of these sisters struggle because of low income or lack of education. I am the Lord's helper to them.
