Hi I'm Kathryn

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, my name is Kathryn. I am a first-year medical student who loves to play piano, read, and go for long bike rides. In high school I was on the swim team. I still love swimming but between balancing home responsibilities and school work I don't make it to the pool as much as I would like. My best friend/husband is also going to medical school with me. Becoming doctors at the same time has definitely been a crazy adventure but we are so grateful for this tremendous opportunity.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon brings joy into my life. Living the commandments and experiencing the blessings of obedience helps me to be happy. But more important than the happiness is the peace that comes with being a member of this church. In my experience, many things may bring us happiness or forms of happiness. Only God can bring peace. I feel that my membership in the LDS church has brought me closer to God than I would have been without it. I am glad to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am a member of a great ward. Currently, I serve as a primary teacher to a single young girl with autism. Being her teacher and friend is a very rewarding experience. At first I didn't quite know what to do, I just knew that we were trying to help her integrate with her classmates. As I have gotten to know her we have learned how to communicate with each other. Now most days she enjoys going to class and her classmates are learning about how to interact with people who are different than themselves. Having this opportunity has taught me something very important about God; He cares deeply about EACH of His children. God will not abandon any one of His children. He is always watching out for and caring for each of us.
