Hi I'm Debbie

I am a wife and stay-at-home mom of five fabulous kids. And, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in Utah at the base of the Beautiful Rocky Mountains. After high school graduation, I attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho where I met my husband. We are currently raising our five children in the awesome state of Washington amongst the beautiful pine trees and Mt. Rainer. I love serving others and find great happiness in living the gospel. I enjoy volunteering at our children's schools. I love using power tools (especially saws) to build things. I love puzzles, Boggle and hanging out with my family. I also enjoy taking pictures and, despite much teasing from my family and friends, "every moment is a Kodak moment" and "one can never have too many pictures."

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by wonderful parents who love the gospel and live it daily. Their testimonies and examples of Christ-like service and love helped me gain my own testimony of my Savior. I love that the gospel of Jesus Christ provides opportunity for growth and for service. I have the opportunity daily to help other people and to share my love with them. Another thing that I love about the Church is that there is a program in place for every member of my family. The Church is a family oriented church where we worship as families. There are classes and activities for all ages: primary (ages 3-11), youth (ages 12-18) and adults. There are also Boy Scouts, sports, plays, camps, activity nights, etc... Our worship service always has the "quiet" sounds of children and I love that. I also love the fact that you can go anywhere in the world and be taught the same doctrine. The principles and standards do not change depending on the location or the preacher. It is the same everywhere. Living these principles makes me happy.

How I live my faith

I love service whether it is in the community, the church or in the home. I feel that it is through serving others that we find true happiness. Life is too short to go it alone. We need each other. I have had many opportunities to serve in the church. I have worked closely with the adult sisters whom I love. I am currently serving in the youth program with the young women. They are wonderful and continually teach me about friendship and love. I get to spend several days a week with them and feel of their faith and dedication to the gospel. I also get to serve/work in the elementary school, a lot. I love being in the school helping the students and staff. Children have a way of brightening my life. How else do I live my faith? Simply by just doing those things that I have been taught to do - love, be kind, forgive others, smile, laugh, be patient and honest, and most of all have integrity in all you do. My husband and I try to teach these things to our children so they in-turn will teach them to their own families.

What is the Relief Society?

It is an organization of wonderful women from all walks of life who are trying to follow the Savior and be the best people they can be. It is comprised of sisters who are single, married, divorce, or widowed who serve and teach one another. It is not an organization of perfect women with perfect homes and lives. We often have chaotic homes, unruly schedules, disobedient children, hardships, losses, etc... And that's okay. What we are is an organization of women who help lift each other’s burdens and bring relief through listening ears, open and forgiving hearts, smiles, hugs and, yes, even an occasional meal. It is an inspired program and I love being a part of it. Show more Show less
