Hi I'm Jon

Life is a blast! Mostly because I'm a Mormon

About Me

I just got married to the lovely girl you see in my picture, Celsea. My life is so much better for being married. I think that I would not have gotten married so young if it wasn't for my faith and understanding of God's plan. I am studying to be a mechanical engineer, and I am thinking of pursuing a career of creating medical devices. I grew up in Sandy UT, where I loved playing racquetball and ultimate frisbee for my highschool and basketball on my own. I served a mission for the church in Indiana for two years, and I absolutely loved it. I enjoyed helping people change their lives for the better by teaching them how to live the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

You might think that I am a Mormon simply because I was born into the church. While this was a convenient way to be taught about the restored gospel at a deep level, I have stayed in the church because of the joy it has brought me. I wanted to know if what I was taught about God and his church was true, so I asked Him in my senior year of high school. I had to show some faith, but when I did he answered me. I felt then, and so many times since, God speaking to my heart. I paid attention to what I was hearing and so much good has happened. I learned how to be happier by following Christ and his prophets that are on the earth today. Serving a mission allowed me to see great changes in people's lives as they applied the restored gospel. My understanding of the gospel, and more feelings from God helped me to put getting married to the right girl as one of my highest priorities. I found that girl, and got married for time and all eternity in one of the Church's temples. Being married to her has brought me more joy than I ever could have imagined. Why am I a Mormon? Simply because it has brought me meaningful joy and shows me the way to find even more joy.

How I live my faith

I try to do what God tells me to do. My favorite thing about the Church is that God still speaks to us. Truth is found in the scriptures, but He still speaks today. This is because we are His children and He cares about us just as much as he did the people he spoke to in the scriptures. I try to listen to what the prophets are teaching. I go to church every week and try to learn what God wants me to do in my life. Then I go out and do my best to actually do it. I go to the temple at least once a month to get some extra worship in and seek more of God's word for me. I'm still learning, but God still shows me what he would have me do differently in my life.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

It's simple. First trust that God does answer prayers. Then do your part by learning what our message is all about by reading The Book of Mormon, attending church to see if it could be the restored church of Christ, asking questions (meet with the missionaries, ask a mormon friend, or check out this website), and taking time to really think hard about what we are saying. Then ask God in earnest prayer if The Book of Mormon and our entire message is true. That's what I did, and I know I received an answer from God. Show more Show less
