Hi I'm Diane

I am a pioneer in my family and a mother of 5 sons and - I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to read, cook and sew. I made my first quilt for my first grandchild - a sweet little girl. I love watching the food network to get new ideas for dinner. I have traveled extensively since I was a young child.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always had a feeling since I was about 10, that there might be a true church on the earth. I investigated several different churchs and it took me about 13 years but I finally found it when I was 23. I attended a Catholic school for part of grade school and high school and always had questions about God and Heaven and why I am here on this earth. I asked the priest when I was in 8th grade if he knew the answers and he told me, "That is one of the mysteries of life". When I was in college, I was outside at a park, on a beautiful cloudy day, contemplating how I fit in with the world. I still knew there had to be a true church, a church that was built upon the foundation of the scriptures and was the same as the one on the earth when Jesus lived here. I said a prayer and decided I would look for the church here on earth with more diligence. At that moment, the clouds opened up and a circle of light shown down on me. I knew Heavenly Father had heard my prayer and led me to a friend who taught me about the church. I decided to meet with the missionaries and on the lesson that they taught that Christ came to the America's, I recalled that I had learned in history class about one of the first explorers who came to America and when the Indians saw him, they bowed down and called him "God". I knew at that very moment, I had found the church I was looking for. I have had many wonderful, spiritual experiences that have strengthened my testimony and have been able to do research to find my ancestors. I found out that my great-great-great grandfather joined the church in England, came to America, and then left the church. I have been able to bring the gospel to the deceased members of my family by taking their names to the temple and doing the temple work for them. I have felt them close to me as I have done so. My mother just recently passed away and I look forward to the day when I can be sealed to her and my dad.

How I live my faith

I go to church each Sunday and teach in Primary. I love to learn the primary songs and to teach the lessons that contain the very basics of the doctrine of the church. Since I did not grow up in the church, I feel like I have a lot of catching up to do. My husband and I tried to be a good example to our children and teach the gospel by both example and the scriptures. We are also very active with humanitarian work and have been able to participate in giving service to others. We feel like we were called to adopt a boy from Eastern Europe, which we did and we have been so blessed by that experience and have learned a great deal. Our biological children learned patience, and kindness and forgiveness in a way I am not sure they could have had we not followed the spirit and given this boy a home.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Everywhere I look, I can see that the world was created by Divine Intelligence, I believe God is the creator of our world. The details in each living thing on earth could not have been created without a great deal of thought and preparation. Some people believe in evolution and do not believe in intelligent design. While I believe that a species can evolve within itself to adapt to it's environment, I do not believe that one species can evolve into another species. No one could ever convince me that I evolved from apes! I know that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and I am created after His image. He created this world for our use and to give us a chance to experience a mortal life so we could be tested to see if we would remain faithful even through challenges. Our world is beautiful and only a God could have created it. Show more Show less
