Hi I'm Sam

I'm a 5th generation native to AZ. I'm an entrepreneur. I love life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My roots run very deep in Mesa. Our children are now 6th generation natives to the area. While we celebrate the normality of growing up in consistent surroundings, I feel life is rich, beautiful, and ever changing. One of the great perks of such stability is having lots of family and friends in the area. I have been married to my sweet wife Sheila for 22 years. Our favorite thing to do is spend time with our children, travel and watch our children grown into faith-based, mature, contributing human beings. As an entrepreneur, I find myself working frequently. My wife and I have opened four franchise businesses in Mesa and I love what I do.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both Mormon, grandparents, and great grandparents and... you get the idea. It has always been in the family tree, but becoming truly converted to Jesus Christ is always a personal event. I was a teenager who tried to make good decisions, but I was far from perfect. I struggled to stay focused, enjoyed playing music, writing music, and practicing music. However, I tried to maintain a good habit of attending church, reading scriptures, and praying. This, I think, is what made all the difference in my life. I've learned in my life, that it is the small things repeated over and over that make the difference. It is true in business, it is true personally, it is true spiritually. So, for years and years and years, I have kept a spiritual regimen of scripture reading, praying to my Heavenly Father, and trying to live in a way to feel the promptings of the Holy Spirit. This practice has led to numerous small experiences which have accumulated into a mountain of testimony over time. Yes, there have been miracles in my life, but the majority of my spiritual experience has been small, simple and very sweet. So, to the question, why am I a Mormon? Because I know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) is true. How do I know this? Because I put it to the test. I studied, I prayed, I pondered, I wondered, I waffled, and in the end, when I had put sufficient effort forward to show my faith, God revealed the truthfulness to me by the power of the Holy Ghost. I felt it deep in my heart. If I tie it back to a moment in time, it was following a year plus study of the Book of Mormon. At that moment, I realized all that I had was real and true.

How I live my faith

Currently I'm serving as a stake presidency member in our church. That means I serve as a councilor with our stake president and help support him and the stake, about 3,100 members of the church. This calling won't last forever. In 8-10 years, I'll be released and move on to serve in another capacity. I live my faith by serving. I've served as scout leader, Sunday school teacher, secretary, a bishop and many many other callings. No calling in our church receives any financial compensation. I find joy in serving in any capacity needed. My faith is woven through every aspect of my life. I do not change my standards on weekdays or weekends, but find great joy in trying to do my best all the time. Living my faith causes me to work hard but the challenge is to try and stay in balance. Sometimes I find it difficult to balance family time, spouse, church calling, serving others, work, social life, personal development, etc. It seems I'm always slightly out of balance based on the current needs. But, living by faith helps me to bring things back in check and recommit. How do I live my faith? In every aspect of my life I try to follow Christ's example in love and obedience.
