Hi I'm Jim Reaves

Husband, father, grandfather, soldier, scuba diver, skier, outdoorsman, Texan and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in Texas and I joined the Army when I was 18 years old. After being stationed in Washington state I made my way back here and have raised my family in the great Northwest. I am a husband and a father of 6. We now have 4 grandchildren and 1 on the way. I love hearing my grandkids call me "Papa". I enjoy teaching scuba diving year round, and teaching skiing in the winter. I love to travel and to host weekly family dinners on Sunday that we prepare together. I am interesting in photography, mainly underwater photography. I love to ride my motorcycle with friends. My favorite pass time is anything with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the church by my Army roommate. I always felt that there was something different about him that I couldn't put my finger on; he was always happy and he always made time each day to pray and study the scriptures. I lost both my parents by the time I was 11 years old. When I learned the truth, that families can be together forever I knew that I was interested in learning more. Another thing that struck me about the LDS church was the fact that none of the clergy or other people who serve in the church are paid; all of the position are stricly service positions. "When you are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God." Mosiah 2:17 I believe in the teaching of the Gospel as taught in this church. I believe that there are prophets on the earth today, just as there were in Jesus Christ time.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through trying to be the best example that I can and by emulating Jesus Christs' life and teachings. I like to give of my time and talents to help others and the church; I do that by participating in the Boy Scout Program and by attending my weekly meetings and helping anyone in any capacity they asked me to, whether they are a Mormon's or not.
