Hi I'm Aubrey

I am from Kelso, Washington. I go to school for dance. I love animals. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Aubrey. I grew up in a small town in Washington state. I have a sister who is 12 years older than myself (and so I have 2 wonderful nephews and 1 beautiful niece) and my little brother is 8 years younger. I have danced my entire life. Dance is my passion! I am currently pursuing my dream, by majoring in dance at a prominent arts college. It is so great and fun. I really hope to do Broadway musicals in New York one day! I have also grown up doing gymnastics, Kajukenbo & Tai Chi (martial arts), track(hurdles and pole vault), and singing. I love doing new things all the time. Being outdoors is above all my favorite thing to do, whether it be to go on a hike or just a walk in a grassy field, I don't care but being outside is where I feel at home! I love all animals, horses especially, and I am a vegetarian. I just love life and anyone can tell you that I have the loudest laugh ever!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a recent convert to the church, almost 1 year since my baptism on February 12, 2011. I have always known that there is a God but I didn't know anything else. That is all I had, so many things about him and my relationship with him were unclear. I had a lot of member friends throughout high school and even went to church several times but I never read and prayed about the Book of Mormon like they encouraged me to. I didn't understand how that would help me know if it was true. My sophomore year in college I was beginning to make more and more bad decisions in my life and needed help. Father knew this and sent a miracle my way. Late January I was walking around the city and out of nowhere I saw missionaries. I knew exactly what they were, so said hi to them. Long story short they got me to come to church. I started meeting with other missionaries and they encouraged me to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it, to ask Heavenly Father if it was true. I was aching for truth in my life and so finally after so many years of people telling me to do it, I accepted the invitation to do so. I read and I prayed that night and didn't feel like I had received an answer but I wanted to know so badly! The next morning I read and prayed again. This time I did feel something. I felt a very strong desire to believe in the words I had read and a feeling of relief swept over my body. I knew that the book was true. A week and a half later I was baptized. I am now happier than I have ever been in my entire life. I am a completely new person who sees people in a different way than I used to. I love this church, I know it is true. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that the gospel has been restored to the earth today. I know that there is a God and that he loves us more than we can comprehend. Every time I look at the beauty of the earth I cannot deny it, it is far too breathtaking and miraculous. I am so thankful to my Father for everything he has done for me!

How I live my faith

The biggest change I have noticed in myself since joining the church has been my love for people. I really used to avoid spending time with people if I could but now all I want to do is help everyone, it's kind of annoying actually, no I'm just kidding, I absolutely love it! I always try to reach out to people now, even if I don't know them at all. I smile more because it really can make someone's day a whole lot better. I also try to be a good example to those that I am around. I am not shy anymore about letting people know my beliefs and opinions but I also try to be gracious in the way I speak about them, by taking into consideration that not everyone can see inside my head and get what I get. I try to help new people at church, because I remember how nice it was for people to help me when I was new. I help out at church by helping with Family night on Mondays called Family Home Evening. We all get together and do something fun, like play board games, human bowling, or have a scavenger hunt, etc. and eat delicious food too! It is great to get to know everyone a little better. I live my faith in my daily life by trying my best to be exactly who I say I am. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I want to make sure I am living how we say we live! I am not perfect but through trying my best to live by the principles of the church I am taking one step at a time to improve always!
