Hi I'm Kenneth "Patricio" Smith

Hi my name is Kenneth "Patrico" Smith. I am the Honorary Consul for Chile in the State of Arizona and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband, father and grandfather. My wife is Minyon. My children are KC, married to Alexandra , Hillary, married to Jonathan , and Connor, 17. I graduated from BYU with a degree in International Relations and obtained my law degree from the University of Pepperdine School of Law. I work as an attorney in Mesa, AZ. I serve as the Branch President of the Spanish Speaking Valenica Branch. Last year year I was appointed by the President of Chile to be the Honorary Consul for Chile in Arizona. I like to play racquet ball, softball, hunt, fish and play with my four grand daughters. I love to visit Chile and and see the families I baptized 34 years ago as a missonary. My mission in Chile was the best experience of my life. I can't remember what I ate for breakfast today, but I can remember nearly every day of my mission in Chile. Next week we are going to the 50 year Chilean Mission Reunion. My son KC also served in Chile. .

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have felt the Holy Ghost communicate with my spirit that the Churh of Jesus Christ of Latter -Day Saints, (the Mormon Church) is true. I have no doubt that we are sons and daughter of a living Father in Heaven who knows us, loves us and more than anything wants us to return to his presence with our families. I also testify that I know that God's Son, Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. To me, this world makes no sense without Jesus Christ. Without Him, His mission, His attonement, His sacrifice, His teachings, His resurrection and His love for each of us, there would be really no point to our existence. I have felt the Savior's unconditional love for me and for others. I have seen and participated in miracles. I can testify that His Priesthood (the power and authority to act in His name) has been restored to the earth. I can testify to the world that the teachings of the Savior will make your life better, happier and give life meaning, purpose and hope. The Savior's message is one of hope and joy. Our Heavenly Father loved each of us so much that he sent His Son Jesus Christ to atone for our sins so that we could over spiritual death physical death. Jesus Christ is my Savior and my Redeemer. He is our best friend. He is our older brother who loved us enough to pay for our sins. I love HIm. I serve Him.

How I live my faith

I serve as the Branch President of a Spanish Speaking Congregation in Arizona. I love it. I feel the great love that the Lord has for His Hispanic children. I feel the great love they have for the Savior. I served a two year mission for the Church in Chile. It was a truly wonderful experience. I learned how to speak Spanish fluently and learned to love the people of Chile. One of the saddest days of my life was when I finished my mission and realized that I would probably never get to see the wonderful people that I had taught and baptized and had grown to love as if they were my own family. While setting on the plane, heart-broken, I prayed to Heavenly Father to bless and watch over these families and keep them strong, faithful and active in the Church, and if every possible, please bless me that I might be able to return someday and visit them. I still say that prayer everyday. In 1998, 20 years after my mission, my partners at work asked my wife what I would like for Christmas. She told them the only thing I know he wants is to go back to Chile someday and see his converts. They bought us tickets and a hotel for two weeks. We spent the time looking up families that I had taught and baptized. It was wonderful. I learned that he love we feel for one another in this life will continue into the next life. Since then I have made 17 trips to Chile to see my "families" down there. In 2001, my son KC was also called to serve in Chile and in 2008, my nephew was also called to serve in Chile. The Lord has truly blessed our family.
