Hi I'm Steve

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Iowa in the United States. My wife and I have been married since 1975. We have five sons.

About Me

I enjoy woodworking and I have built most of the furniture we have in our home. I play racquetteball twice a week with some faculty at the University where I work teaching math and physics students. My wife and I like to go bicycling together. We have a nice vegetable garden at home that is quite productive.

Why I am a Mormon

I was stationed in Germany in 1975 with the US Army. I met my wife Dottie there and our first date was to a Friday evening get together with other young single adults whe were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I enjoyed it and started attending church with her on Sundays. I was very much impressed to hear that there is a prophet on the earth today and that there is ongoing reveleation from God. Learning that modern revelation is contained in the Doctrine and Covenants, I stayed up all night reading the entire book. I received a testimony by the Holy Ghost that the book is indeed the work of God and is true. That lead me to pray alone and I asked if the Book of Mormon is true and if Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. Again, I received an answer from the Holy Ghost that those things were also true. I asked the missionaries to baptize me. Later, I read the Book of Mormon and I testify that it is true.

How I live my faith

Each month, my home teaching companion and I visit the homes of four families in our ward to assist them with their physical and spiritual needs. I also assist the Bishop by keeping church membership records current for each member.
