Hi I'm Loraine

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a working mom of 6 great kids, and now 3 grandkids, married to the same great guy for 30+ years. I've worked at various office jobs my whole adult life, for the last 17 years as a medical transcriptionist. I play the piano and sing. I like to sew. I have a blog about my family history/ancestors.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were both Mormons, and I was raised in that faith. As a teenager I wondered how strong my faith was sometimes. I was only mildly rebellious, not really having any strong desires to leave the way of life I was taught by my parents. The thing I wondered about was whether I would get my own witness about the Mormon Church so I could have my own foundation of belief, independent of my parents. It took me a while to learn for myself what it feels like when the still small voice of the Holy Spirit was speaking to my mind and my heart. As I became more aware of the Spirit, I realized it had been speaking to me throughout my life, helping me to feel strongly when something I heard was true. And I feet this witness of the spirit often in Church and when studying the scriptures.

How I live my faith

Right now my "job" in church (nobody is paid, so I use the word job loosely) is teaching the women's group once a month. My lessons some from the latest speeches given by the leaders of the Church, which makes them fascinating to study and always relevant to the challenges we all face. We have very lively discussions in class and I love hearing the comments and wisdom of others in the group.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Loraine
The hope that I can have my family with me forever is my strongest motivation to live a good life. My husband and kids are wonderful individuals, and I'm so grateful to call them my family. Friends come and go, but family really is forever. Show more Show less
