Hi I'm Spencer

I'm Spencer, I'm a missionary serving in Ukraine Donetsk, I love to speak Russian, I love basketball, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently returned home from Donestk, Ukraine after serving a 2-year mission. I loved every minute serving those great people. I love their culture, I love their language, and I love the people. Some of the people I love the most are the ones I met in Ukraine. I am now a student at BYU hoping one day to become a pediatric surgeon. I love learning. Whether it is Russian or Anatomy or the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I have always had a yearning desire to answer the questions of life. The Gospel of Jesus Christ allows us find these answers and they are given to us by many sources: Prayer, Scriptures, and a living prophet. Just as we seek out learning through mentors, books, and research, the Lord has allowed us to receive revelations for our eternal journey.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it helps me come closer to my Savior. I know that He lives. I know that he has not forsaken us. I know that we do indeed have a Father in Heaven, who loves and helps us. We can speak with him through prayer and come to know Him through the writings of prophets, ancient and modern. I know that God lives. I know that God the Father and His son, Jesus Christ, did appear to the prophet Joseph Smith in 1820 and that they, through a living prophet, lead and guide the church today. This is the true and living church on the Earth today. You can know too, by reading the Book of Mormon to know if it true and if Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God.

How I live my faith

One thing that I do to live my faith is to study the scriptures. I have, over my mission, loved to read the Holy Scriptures. The Lord has blessed us with many testaments of His divinity. He has given us the record of the Ancient Jews in the Holy Bible and the record of the Nephites, of ancient America, to show to us that he does speak to all men through his holy prophets. What we learn from the prophets will only bless our lives. God gives us commandments, personal revelation, and shows his love to us through the writings of the prophets. I know that when we read, ponder, pray and then act on what we read, we will be blessed.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Spencer
Not everyone is required to serve a mission but it is strongly encouraged, especially for young men. As a missionary right now for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Donetsk Ukraine Mission, I know that serving a mission brings many blessings. For those that I teach, for my family, and myself. By serving a mission, we show love to the Lord through dedicated service in His gospel. I know that serving a mission has truly stregthened my testimony as I see others peoples lives change because of the Gospel of Jesus Chris and His restored church on the Earth, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I know that the Lord appreciates and blesses me for serving a full-time mission. Show more Show less
