Hi I'm Teressa

I'm a Mormon & I'm hooked!

About Me

I'm the eldest of seven, the mother of five (all girls, four of which are married), a grandmother of three, & my husband & I have been married 30 yrs this year. Since I was little I've been interested in crafts. I love creating. I get so excited working with colors & textures; my brain just sparks to life. I also love puzzles. Guess crafting is just that; a kind of puzzle that you put together to create a finished product. When I was about 10-11 yrs old my mother introduced me to crocheting & knitting. I struggled with knitting. I think I'm just too impatient but crochet I took off with. When I was learning & I'd get stuck, Mom would correct my mistake then get me where I'd left off. I love to crochet! My favorite item to crochet is doilies. I love working with the tiny thread & needles. I also like how each round has to be correct before you can proceed to the next round. I still don't like undoing my mess ups but crocheting brings me a lot of peace, joy & satisfaction.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I've been a member almost all my life, it's has been a choice to continue. When I was a teenager, I was faced with many situations that could have taken me away from the gospel. Instead, it brought me closer because I recognized that this is where I find peace, guidance & direction in my life. God strengthens me in times of weakness. He guides me through my day. He guides me through the rough times. He guides me when I don't even realize I need guidance. I am reminded over and over gain of how much He loves me through His many tender mercies. I could not have raised my family to be the good, respectable young women they are today without His help. The gospel provides answers for me about who I am & what I need to do. The gospel provides comfort for me & teaches me how through service we find joy. I love my Heavenly Father & my Savior, Jesus Christ. As I study His holy word, I'm taught how to become more & more like Him. I try to emulate Him in all I do & say because I never want to found unworthy of His profound sacrifice & I want others that know me want to know Him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by praying often, reading & studying the scriptures. Our family attends church often to renew our spirits. We also serve & participate in our community. When my children were younger, I'd help in the schools as room mom, aid, or just an extra hand. I've worked on & off throughout my life; each time trying to be an example of a true follower of Christ. I know our neighbors & we help one another. Currently I teach an early morning religion class called seminary. This is for students attending High School. It starts before school starts & last for aproximately an hour. We study the Old & New Testaments of the Bible, as well as the Book of Mormon, & Church History. It helps them start they're day on a spiritual note & prepares them for some of the challenges that they face or will face. It's hard to get up that early but very rewarding & definitely worth it. I think I learn more than they do. I love seeing the lights in their eyes as the grow with understanding. When you love something you want to share it. This is one way I've found to do that.
